Weird. He's had a fairly underwhelming season and then he suddenly goes off.
Kelan Martin exploded for 39 points the other night back with the Iowa Wolves. He was 10-15 from the 3 (!!). I'd be more bullish on Martin's future if he wasn't already 24 years old. He has not shown any ability to be consistent from 3, which is his biggest problem.
Re: Iowa Wolves
Apparently today was the last day to sign guys to 2-way deals, so even if the Wolves sign Martin to an NBA contract, they aren't going to get another guy on a 2-way deal.

As you may know, I'm a bit of a Martin skeptic. The last two games are an extreme example of my issue with him. Two games ago he goes off for 39 points on 10-15 from three. The next game he goes 4-12 from the field, 0-5 from 3, and scores 12 points. He's just weirdly inconsistent from outside even though his shot looks really pure when he gets it going.

But Martin does other things too. He's an excellent rebounder and good defender. He's tough and plays with intention and energy. He was a decent 3-point shooter in college.

Re: Iowa Wolves
Jaylen Nowell bounced back after a bit of a cold streak of games with 32 points on 14-20 from the field, 4-5 from 3, 7 boards, and 3 assists. He was a +10 in a 2-point win tonight.
I could see Nowell pushing Okogie and Culver for some of the SG minutes next year.

Nowell should be up here playing significant minutes the rest of this season. No reason to wait until next year. If Ryan is committed to continuing with his small-ball approach, then he should put Nowell in the rotation with Culver, Okogie and Napier at the PG and SG positions. See if Nowell can play some PG. This team has nothing to lose at this point.

Well, one of your other favorites from Iowa Jordan McLaughlin is getting reps at PG, so there are only so many minutes to go around between PG and SG.
I think the question is what helps his development more - playing a lead guard type role in Iowa with heavy minutes and usage or playing spot minutes off the bench with the Timberwolves? I'm fine with him in Iowa for now.

Re: Iowa Wolves
Things are looking up fellas! Our Iowa Wolves just hung 82 points on Santa Cruz....in the first half!
Kelan Martin with 20 points in 14 minutes and Spellman with 10 points in 9 minutes. I think they missed two shots combined.
Don't you feel better now....Anyone? Anyone? Bueller?

I know Spellman wants to be waived but him being down in Iowa with Kat hurt dosen't make sense
