Frankly I'm not worried about the Jazz at all even if they get Hayward back. They're gonna struggle to close out games. They just dumped a 40% spot up 3pt shooter on a team with a couple guys who can drive and kick for a guy in Ricky who needs the ball to be effective. They're gonna be playing 3 on 5 with Ricky and Gobert and possibly 2 on 5 if they close games out with Favors. I don't see where the scoring comes from on that team outside of pretty much solely the wing positions.

You make a good point, Kahns. But as a 31-win team last season in the ever-strengthening Western Conference, this Wolves should be worried about every team, especially a team like the Jazz that won 51 games and is so well coached.

The Wolves should be a much better team next season compared to last, but it's a long climb from 31 wins in the tough Western Conference. And we're still seriously lacking in depth at the wing positions. The only two teams that finished below us last season were the Suns and Lakers. They should both finish below us next season. Based on current rosters, I would think the Mavs, Kings and Pelicans should also finish below us next season. If I'm right about those five, we still need two more teams to finish below us just to make the playoffs. I see the the Grizzlies, Clippers, Nuggets and Blazers falling below us. But I could also see the Pelicans finishing ahead of us.

This year is a whole new team. The only real ties to that 31 team are Wiggins, Towns, Dieng and Belly. So far we've swapped Ricky, Lavine, Dunn and Bazz for Butler, Teague and Gibson. That's just an almost unfathomable upgrade IMO. The whole conference is better, but I really only see GS, SA, HOU and OKC as better than us. After that I see us in the next group of teams which would put us anywhere from 5-8. And if Towns jumps to top 15 status which he could that would put us above OKC and competing with HOU. Overall though I really just care about making the playoffs because I think we'd be a tough out for everyone but the Warriors.

lol while I like the idea of top talent going to the East to balance things out.. I'm hoping he stays in Utah because I want to see what Rubio does with a top notch shooter next to him, but if not, then Boston. Screw the heat!

This is where I dislike the Taj contact.

Patrick Patterson signed a 3 year 16 mil contact with a player option for the 3rd year.

9 mil a year difference between him and taj. Still don't think whoever we signed would have moved the needle a ton but we would have 13 mil left going the Patterson route instead of taj
