The timing of Jimmy's tweet is hilarious. Jimmy had several days to correct this "misinformation" but only did so after the meeting fell through for whatever reason. I applaud Jimmy for not believing what he reads on the internet though, as it is much better for him to get all the facts from his good buddy, Kyrie.

As far as I'm concerned the limitations of this team rest squarely on both of their shoulders.

Sign KAT and bring in someone that can figure out how to leverage an extremely elite athlete (Wiggins) instead of trying to turn him into something he isn't.

What made Thibs a respected coach was taking a group of players with limited talent and making them a contender while he absolutely ruined a generational talent in Derrick Rose (Rose was so gifted athletically). Chicago hated him for it. I'd rather blow it up today and give the reigns to Stackhouse for the next phase. Players can learn without hating the game and killing themselves.

You nail it here Leado. Taking a chance on losing KAT to appease Butler almost makes me want to lose my dinner. Good points also by KG4ever, Lip, and Q. But here's the thing, we missed our window on the best time to unload Butler. The more time we wait, and the more that comes out about the discord of the team the worse it gets. I've really grown to dislike Butler. His personality may appeal to some of the intellectually challenged writers we have in this town, but all he does is divide. I have this painful memory of him trying to win games by himself in the last 5 minutes while the rest of the players stood around and hoped he came through (he rarely did). Yeah KAT has some maturity issues, but can you blame him for not wanting to step aside for "55 game" Jimmy? Butler was just a very poorly timed acquisition that is going to end up setting this franchise back once again. I'm a very unhappy fan, torn between my love of pro basketball in Minnesota, and my disdain for the components that make up the Timberwolves.

I agree with you completely, Cool! You'll remember I was calling for the Wolves to trade Butler for weeks leading up to last June's draft. And that's before the story broke about Butler's disdain for KAT. But we can't turn back the clock. So the next best thing is to trade him now before he gets hurt again after the season starts. I think the Lakers would give us a decent deal for him. The Sixers, Celtics and Knicks are three other possibilities. I'd also consider the Wizards a possible trading partner for Butler. Time to start a bidding war among a few franchises.

What if the wolves decide to go the other way and trade away kat and wiggins in order to appease butler? Not likely, but i don't think it's impossible.

If Crawford thinks one year in the Wolves organization sucked he should try being a fan!

there won't truly be a fresh start til Glen's not the owner anymore.

YEP.

I think people are beginning to realize more and more how an owner can be a sneaky important person for creating a culture around an organization.

The Wolves have been woeful losers under Taylor. And he most definitely is part of that. Whether it's the Joe Smith crap. Or ripping on Garnett's work ethic on the way out. The Mark Madsen debacle. The David Kahn hiring. Or the Wiggins extension/public pleading for more effort. Or, many other things...

Glen Taylor has done a poor job figuring out what's necessary to make a winning basketball franchise. Granted, he's made a lot of money in doing so... so good for him. I guess.

Let's see. Posters hate Wiggins because of motor. Hate Towns because whines at officials. Hate Dieng because of salary. Hate Thibs because of barks. Hate Taj because former Bull. Hate Rose because washed up. Hate Deng because washed up and former Bull. Hate Teague because not Rubio. Hate Patton because he breaks feet often. Hate Glen because country club. Hate Layden on general principles. Hate Jimmy because Jimmy just wants to win.

Do not hate Tyus because Tyus is from Apple Valley.

Do not hate rookies, Nunnally or Tolliver because they haven't had a chance to piss people off yet. Just give it some time there.

Why do you people follow the team?

That's what they call a Minnesota fan. But when the Wins Projections start I'm guessing we will see the average hater project 55 wins.

Khans, I am interested in your take on how successful the team would be if KAT walked away, and we re-signed Jimmy.
Would we be a playoff team, and do you think Jimmy is over the knee issue?

We're simply a better team with Jimmy than KAT. Jimmy is a true impact guy in this league who elevates the team. Towns isn't that guy and frankly I haven't seen him show signs of being that guy in 4 years. He'll put up stats that can backpack a team frequently, but who is better on either end of the court because of Towns? I haven't seen the lethal 2 man PnR game that should come with his skillset and any competent PnR ball handler which Teague, Tyus and Jimmy qualify in my mind. He definitely doesn't cover up anything on defense as the anchor.

All that being said Jimmy has durability issues we all know about. So I think if you could get 72 games out of Jimmy with a replacement level C we are a playoff team, but that 72 games is a maybe every year so it's hard to guarantee playoffs without Towns.

At the end of the day this organization should pick Towns over Jimmy, but I haven't seen anything from Towns that has me believing he's gonna be able to elevate the team to the playoffs. He's a great stat guy which I believe can be a 1b player on a contender, but I don't see any 1a in him. He hasn't shown any kind of leadership on the court and yet wants this team to be built around him as the leader. I think he's a better version of Kevin Love. That guy doesn't get you to contender status as the lead. In the old days, Jimmy/Towns would be enough to give you a chance. In the new NBA you need to pair them with another top 20 guy to have a chance and we don't have the resources to do that unless Jimmy and KAT can get someone to force their way here. If we lose Jimmy we go back to needing two of those guys to have a chance and that's just tough to do when you then need the 1a top 10-15 guy.

Funny post. It's post traumatic stress disorder. Those Sebastian Telfair days had a lasting impact on this fan base.
