Wait Towns thinks KG would be a great mentor? Too bad mentorship has no impact on players.

Wait, doesn't he actually have to be on our team to actually be mentored?

Drafting Karl Towns and slotting him as a shot-blocking, floor-spacing power forward and occasional small-ball center makes far too much sense, but this is unlikely to be a quick decision ala Anthony Davis or LeBron at #1. Are these people drunk? Towns as a small ball 5? Isn't he a legit 7 footer carrying 250 lbs? Also if people are arguing for Town's spacing, wouldn't we have more spacing if he played the 5 and we essentially played 5 out? So defensively you keep him near the basket and offensively you open the court for driving lanes for Wiggins and Lavine. Everytime someone puts a shot blocker at the 4 spot I just think of all the times our mediocre teams matched up with the Thunder well because Love pulled their only viable rim protector out to the 3 point line and he couldn't guard him out there.

That would be nice if we could get one of those picks. Not sure we have the ammunition though.

Would anyone be too averse to trying to get the #6 pick from the Kings for a package of Dieng, NB, #31, and #36? The Kings do need a rim protecting C, and Dieng might entice them to pair with Cousins. There would also be an option to send them Martin for Landry/Thompson and sprinkle in a Stauskas in some form. I could see us drafting Towns and WCS and our top 5 would have real potential.

Rubio, Wiggins, Muhammed, Towns, WCS with LaVine as our 6th man. We would still lack depth at PG/SF.

I'm all for it. But I don't think it's enough for Sacramento to do it.

They're STILL playing the Promise of Hope game too. And a couple of less than splashy players and a couple of long-bet picks aren't enough to sell it to the fanbase as a definitive sign of improvement.

I know you're just having fun with some of us who believe that KG is a good mentor for young big men, q, but I'm going to give a serious answer anyway. Towns obviously isn't saying he HAS been mentored by KG...he's only saying he believes it would be beneficial to be mentored by him. At some point in time doesn't the continual mention by different players of KG's mentoring provide some evidence that maybe he just might be a good mentor? After all, we never hear of guys like Kevin Love or Demarcus Cousins mentioned as being good mentors. Maybe there is something to this KG mentoring narrative. The fact is that some guys make their teammates and teams better, and some are only good for putting up individual stats. I'm glad Flip traded for one of the guys who other NBA players put in the first category.
