My 4/11 - Mock - Part 1.
1st Round - Pick 18 - Cody Ford - RG
No top 10 players dropped so I was able to focus on the OL. If one of the Iowa TE's is here I would have a difficult time passing them up. The board worked out that I could choose between Cody Ford, Jonah Williams, and Bradbury. I eliminated Bradbury due to him only being a center. Johan Willaims could play anywhere and is a scheme fit, but I decide I wanted a mauler that can play in the zone system and picked up Cody Ford. He projects to RG/RT. When I think about 2019 I wonder why I didn't draft Johan Willaims and stick him at LG and leave him there since we have a huge hole there right now.
2nd Round - Pick 50 - Michael Deiter - LG
The OL started to fly off the board after I picked and was worried I wouldn't have a chance to grab another one. Nobody dropped that would have needed to pick based on BPA. I had some options at DT here but went with OL since the pickings for day 1 starters are drying up. Michael Deiter is 6'6" and 330lbs and can move. Pairing him with Cody Ford at RG we have added 680ls of moving company up front. Things are looking up on the OL
3rd Round - Pick 81 - Renell Wren - DT
I was debating Renell Wren in round 2. Klahen Saunders and David Wise were my plan in this round, but Wren is a level above them. I see him starting at 3-Tech his rookie year. I was thinking I could go WR here, but my target or Riley Ridley was off the board.
4th Round - Pick 120 - Kahale Warring - TE
Went into this round thinking CB, WR, and TE. I looked at the board and Warring was the last big play TE left. He has WR speed, TE Size, and good hands. He has not played the position long and will only get better.
5th Round - No Pick
It was tough watching players come off the board. Lamount Gailard - C and Sean Bunting - CB, and Maxx Crosby - DE are guys I wanted to see fall.
6th Round - Pick 190 Trayveon Williams - RB
I was shocked he was here. He is a good pass blocker, receiver, and good backup to Cook. I was targeting CB or WR here but had to pick him up. Mike Weber has been a back I would pick in the past, but he has been available in the 7th in other mocks.
6th Round - Pick 209 - Jamel Dean - CB
Needing a CB and WR. Penny Hart and KeeSean Johnson were my WR targets. Both are gone so I look at CB. Jamel is going to be Zimmers project. He is 6'2" 200lb corner with 4.3 speed, 41 inch vertical, elite shuttle. He has shown flashes. Time to let the secondary whisperer whisper.
7th Round - Pick 247 - Miles Boykin - WR
Needed a WR. Mlies Boykin was Notre Dames top WR. He is a monster at 6'4" and 220lbs. He has good hands with a 1 handed 55-yard catch in Citrus Bowl. Ran the 40 in 4.4 with 43.5" vertical and great shuttle. He needs help with his routes but gives us a deep option that will help Thelin and Diggs work underneath.
7th Round - Pick 250 - Donnell Greene - OT
The former Gopher is a 3-year starter at LT and is huge at 6'7" and 335lbs. He is good in space and screens. He can clear things out in the running game. I would project him as an RT, but needs to get better at pass blocking.
This draft would fix the OL today and for years to come. I could see O'Neill and Reiff switching sides. We hit on a lot of positions. I like Warring as a Rudolph replace hin 2020. Trayveon Williams gives us a solid backup RB.
