Happy for Portland! Happy for the Brooks/Booker loss!
Deni Avdija is a great example of someone that has just methodically gotten better and better after a really slow start to his career. Not a #1 type guy on a contender, but perhaps good enough to be a #2 at this point (?). Didn't see that coming two years ago.

I would not have predicted he would rise to this level. Portland will have 3 legitimate 20-point scorers next season plus a deep bench...could be another West team in the 50-win mix.

Just watched a replay of the Ball/Bam incident. I understand that Ball has never had the reputation of being a dirty player, but his apologists are wrong saying he grabbed Bam to keep from falling down...Ball is already on the ground when he grabs Bam's ankle. They are correct that Bam is going to fall anyway, but it's likely that Ball grabbing his ankle made the fall more dangerous. I agree with everyone here that Ball should have been tossed. Further, I wonder if the NBA is going to review the play and suspend him for Friday's game. I'm torn on that one because Charlotte is one of my favorite teams this season.

I went to sleep after the Suns went up 11 (after one of the worst passes/TOs I've ever seen from Camara) about midway through the 4th.

Seems like I missed all the fun.

Banchero just keeps on getting thicker and thicker. Muscle is great, but you're ligaments and tendons don't get stronger just because the rest of you does. I believe the future of sports nutrition is going to focus on strength without bulk.

Apparently, it doesn't help with your shooting either. Banchero has pretty much leveled off through his four years in the league. Good player, but not near a transcendent player... and possibly not even a franchise player. It seems like Scottie Barnes is getting thicker as well, or maybe I've just noticed his size more this season. Three-point shooting is a bugaboo for both.

To be fair, Barnes had a little uptick this season (5th year). The key for both of their teams is finding a better player to lead the way because it seems Tor and Orl have similar ceilings with these guys as THE guys.

Completely fine with the pick. This draft has 4 tier 1C prospects (meaning I think they are 3rd best players on championship teams or 2 or less All Star appearances). Each of the players have their strengths and weaknesses.

Fudd: Elite shooter but struggled to get her shot off against WNBA defenders
Miles: very good passer, high IQ, good but not great scorer and a little smaller
Fam: highest upside, athletic, 4/5 but played the weakest competition
Bett: Very good post defender, good post player, can’t spread the floor at the moment and I’ll be curious how she does guarding in space.

Overall fine with the pick, Cheryl just doesn’t believe in the traditional post player, she wants to play 5 out so I’m not shocked they didn’t take Betts (a little surprised they didn’t take Fam)

Lynx on paper taking a big step back, losing 2 starters, their 6,7,8 and 9th woman. Phee is out at least half the year, McBride got hurt on an airplane and had surgery complications so she is expected to miss the beginning of the year because she can’t fly at the moment.

The Lynx might be bad with that said Cheryl finds under the radar talent all the time. 2 years ago I wanted them to tank for Paige and they ended that season a missed travel can away from a championship. Lynx signed Howard who is solid, Nia Coffey (Hopkins alum) and 2 complete unknown players from overseas they in just expecting to be great because that is what Cheryl does
Off topic, but I do find it interesting that Dallas drafted its star's girlfriend. Not being judgmental at all, but it probably wouldn't have made Paige happy if they had passed on Fudd. Can you imagine if an NBA team had two guys in their locker room that were dating? It would be huge news! But it's no big deal in the WNBA.
Ya it’s an interesting wrinkle to team building. Last year I can think of 3 couples off the top of my head. One signed together in Dallas and it was extremely toxic to the locker room and both were traded and one won the title. 2 of the better players in the league are married in AT and Bonner, Bonner signed a max with the Fever last year and hated being away from AT she pretty much pulled a Jimmy Butler and the Fever cut her and she returned to play with her wife and they made the F4. And the other couple is on different teams and they don’t bring drama
Don't know if you saw Miles' press conference, kek, but she is impressive...big personality and said all the right things. Says she is going to wear out Lindsay with questions. It may be a down year coming for our Lynx, but I think we will enjoy watching our new PG develop. Now on topic with the Dallas situation...Miles' girlfriend Maddy Westbeld plays for Chicago and wasn't getting much playing time with them at the end of the season. Could there be a trade in the future to keep Miles happy?

They might have broken up. Haha. They do need a big though. They are so inexperienced at the 5 at the moment. I am predicting Tina Charles will be a Lynx before the opener though
