How is it possible to be that fucking atrocious on defense? That's not just bad. That's downright unplayable, especially when you consider the talent level over there is a fraction of what exists in the NBA.
That along with his completely broken shot is enough to turn me away from him altogether. How is he going to be successful in the NBA let alone become a star player? He can't consistently beat defenders off the bounce because he lacks above average athleticism. He can't make shots from the perimeter because he has the mechanics of a middle schooler. He can't defend on ball or off ball. He's a good rebounder for his position thanks to his 6'7 frame and he's a quality facilitator/passer albeit a less valuable skill if he's unable to present himself to be a viable scoring threat.
I can't understand why he's considered one of the top prospects in this draft class. Is it the high school hype? Is it the social media fame? Is it the family name? It must be one of those factors because if we're judging him off of what he's done on a basketball court even in a limited sample size he's not worthy of being in that discussion.
Edit: Ball is a 6'7 Ricky Rubio that can't defend or a 6'7 Trae Young that can't shoot. Either way, you won't be winning m(any) games if he's one of your best players.
Reposting this from a different thread and saving it for later.
This is what makes the Givony/Schmitz love so suspicious.
In that Lowe Podcast Schmitz straight up compared Ball to a bigger Trae Young but a lesser shooter and he said he things Ball's shooting will he just fine. He wasn't saying Ball was going to be as good of a shooter as Young but...I was like ok... it is worth remembering that Trae Young was considered a true PG known for his passing when he was going into his freshman year of college. He wasn't specifically known as a bigtime shooter or scorer so that aspect of his game was a bit of a surprise but he still had that passing ability.

Thanks for those posts, Cam. Those Edwards and Ball stats say it all. Both have way too much bust potential to take with a top 3 pick - or honestly with any lottery pick - unless its part of a pre-arranged trade for another prospect lower in the draft.

So my buddy called me today. He lives in the same apartment as Anthony Edwards. What he was saying that Edwards is doing a zoom call with Ryan Saunders right now.

Damn, kek. Why can't you have buddies that live in Memphis or wherever James Wiseman lives these days? Sheesh.

I give it a 5% he is fucking with me but he said he was doing the meeting in the lobby/ work pods area where he can hear some stuff in the hallway. Said they talked about social media use, living in Minneapolis and how he would contribute to the community of the twin cities

Funny how one team doesn't seem to be on that list yet that's the team that's likely gonna draft him somehow.

I thought I read that LaMelo Ball did an individual workout for the Wolves earlier this week. I could be misremembering, though.
