I'm not quite as doom and gloom as most on here. I, like everyone here, wanted Wiseman. I also would have loved Bey at 17. That would have been a very successful draft outcome for me.
With that said, I think it's probably smart to at least be open minded about what we came out with. Edwards, while the bust potential is definitely there and we all see it, if he does hit, he would be exactly what we'd need. I'm definitely looking at the bright side, but I know Dwayne Wade thinks there's a shot that Edwards ends up better than himself (of course, I recall Wade being high on OJ Mayo back in the day too).
"Per Sports Illustrated's Jeremy Woo:
The thing that's a separator for me, if I've got to sum it up, outside of all the talent and upside, is that Anthony is one of the greatest teammates I've had the privilege of coaching. The way he cares about others, how engaging and involved he is with them. For a young man, he's got an incredible level of empathy. I don't try to make comparisons so much when I've coached Dwyane Wade and Victor Oladipo. But when you look at their talent level mixed with what kind of teammates they are, what kind of empathy they have as human beings, that's where I see tremendous similarities [to Anthony]."
At #23, I was fine with the draft and stash. He's an asset, he brings a lot of the playmaking that our FO was clearly looking for (did anyone else notice the Wolves were looking hard at Ball, then traded for Rubio, then added Bolmaro, another high IQ passer. If nothing else, he's an asset, and I highly doubt they'd bring him over this year, rather let him develop in Spain for the next year.
#28, Jaden McDaniels. Definitely looks like a home run swing. This guy doesn't look like a role player. He looks like a kid with a silky smooth game, solid NBA size and length, and loads of upside. He clearly dropped to #28 because he is raw (not necessarily his skill set, but the maturity in his game). Worst case #28 is a bust, best case he could actually become a stud. I recall the Wolves taking Wayne Ellington at #28 or #29, and this kid's ceiling is much higher.
My ideal draft? No, but we are just over a month away from league start, and given Gersson and co have literally watched every minute of game tape available on these guys, it's probably worth at least seeing them on the court together before calling it a bust.
For me, I'm excited to watch the new look Wolves. I'm excited to have less no-names on the court together.
I also think this means we'll either move on from Beasley or we'll trade Culver (probably the former).
And say what you want about Rubio, but he was almost always in our top statistical lineups when he was with the Wolves, and saw a bubble and multiple playoff appearances while the Wolves had 1 (because we had a superstar in Jimmy Butler). I feel a lot better about having $17 mil going to Ricky than $19 mil going to Gorgui/Teague.

Oof.
Rosas's future depends on Edwards developing by year 2. If he's a flop, Adios Gersson!
Enjoy this year's draft day thread. We will likely have no picks in 2021, so it might be heartless to have a draft day thread next year, especially if Warriors are picking 4th with the the Wolves pick.

Rosas did say a month back that need would not play a role. They would draft as they saw BPA. Not saying I agree.
We also have to remember this is a guy that comes from the small ball mold so he's just never going to value big men the same as wings/guards. In his mind Edwards was probably the best prospect, but in reality where guys like AD and BAM just faced off in the finals, quality big men are still really important. I heard on the broadcast that the Warriors had Wiseman as their guy so tell me which organization likely has the better evaluators ranking these prospects? A team that won with small ball still valued the big more than both the guards.
Couldn't agree more. My only argument against Wiseman going to GS is that he may not realize his own potential there. He will be very useful for the team but they are still a perimeter oriented squad. He may not improve as an offensive player there.

I seriously question that a big man can't reach his offensive potential surrounded by 2 of the greatest shooters of all time and one of the better playmaking 4's in Green in the league. I think Wiseman is literally just gonna clean up on that squad. The Klay injury is a major set back, but they get our pick next year as well to continue to add really high picks to a great team as those guys start to age and decline. It's literally the dream for a front office to get to build a team this way.

They fleeced him. Ran away with their favorite prospect, a highly talented reclamation project in Wiggins ( which fits another great need, and who I believe will balloon there ), and netted a likely top 10 pick from us next year. I said it before, fuck Rosas. More importantly, fuck Glen Taylor.
Biggest Surprises on Draft Day:
1. Neither Wolves nor Warriors trade down.
2. Haliburton falling to 12.
3. Tyrell Terry going in second round
4. Saddiq Bey falling to 19
5. Deni falling to 9
6. Paul Reed falling to ??? (still available at pick 47).

If you're never the focal point and always benefitting from the great talent around you what happens when that talent is old and retired or traded? With all the perimeter shooting taking place there is he going to be honing his own offensive skills ?
