The Wolves happen to have a trade exception from the Love trade which happens to perfectly fit Jack's contract. The Wolves could send #36 back or a future second rounder (last year the Nets spent over 2 million to acquire three second rounders!) and get their backup PG for nothing, save their MLE or use it to bring over NB.
Interesting idea Volans.
I wouldn't want us to just absorb Jack's contract though with our trade exception.

Budinger and 36th for Jack and 29th.
Wait, so they give up the better pick and a guy who's actually been on the NBA floor the past two seasons?

Yeah idk why they would offer the 29th. A Bud for Jack swap straight out wouldn't be terrible

Hezonja's game is very good. I see Detroit/Denver coveting him.
Most smart NBA GMs are going to be very wary of this potential locker room cancer. But the Kings already have Cousins, so they may be willing to take on this knucklehead too.
If Mario freakin Hezonja can be enough to be a locker room CANCER, then you constructed a weak ass locker room and you can dump every choir boy you acquired.
I don't care if they're at each other throats after every game. Can they win us games?! That's the ONLY thing this team needs to be worried. If Mario sucked at basketball, fine, forget about him. If he's good and can make this team better, forget everything else. If you as a GM can't trust anyone on the team to keep a guy with questionable character (I wouldn't even lump Hezonja in this kind of category. He's a vocal version of Love), then you didn't construct a good enough roster and you need to be accountable for that.

I'll take Jack with the trade exception and and some dumb protected 2nd round pick that the Nets would never get. It looks like he didn't shoot the 3 well last year but if he gets back to what he did for years before that you are in good shape. He can play both guard positions and always seems to be pretty solid. I'd say he is a little better than the guys you can pick up for cheap as FAs but I dont think we have much cap space anyway so overpaying for Jack seems fine. He seems like a guy that would fit in here pretty well.

Sounds like the Net are getting desperate to shed salaries.
This deal would shed 1.3 mil off there cap next season and 6.3 mil the year after.

They might do that for avoiding guaranteed contract for late 1st pick. I think it has been quite common lately that playoff teams change their late 1st round picks to early 2nd round picks that they can save some salary cap money. This has been mostly common when team covets some Euro stash. If they draft the guy with 2nd round pick he is not counting against salary cap until they will sign him. With Brooklyn this swap would need to happen after the draft though because they have traded their next year 1st round pick.
I would still like to try Bennett for Jack swap. Brooklyn is currently in terrible shape. They have aging roster but have traded large part of their future picks, so tanking is not an option for them. I think their best option to get better is to take flyers on some young guys with bust label and hope they can find a diamond from those. Bennett would fit for that mold and if he would not pan out, they could just not extend his contract and free money for signing free agents in next summer.

Well thought out post. I'll add that supposedly they want to keep Thad Young long term so maybe that makes Bennett not a guy they would want to take a flyer on?
