Yeah, a lot of us thought of him as the dream fit next to Ant.

I look at his usage with Tatum out most of this season and may be his efficiency took a hit because he was having to create a lot more shots on his own. He took a career-high 14.4 FGAs per game, played a career high MPG, and simply had to carry a heavier load than seasons past in Boston.

I didn't watch enough Boston games to know if a part of it is him simply losing a step/some skill, but on paper perhaps he was forced into a role bigger than what he could handle.

Minnesota product Jalen Suggs and occasional dreamed-for backcourt mate of Ant with a disappointing series against Detroit. They really needed him to be more of a shot creator/maker and he was miserably inefficient from the field. Banchero and Bane could only do so much and they weren't exactly making everything either.

Mavericks hire Masai Ujiri which will put an end to the TC rumors.

I think you nail it... he was overextended. In Game 7 (no Tatum), White took 26 shots, including 16 threes. That's not his game. He's a lot more later-career Jrue Holiday than he is J. Tatum.

That being said, I dug his fight during Game 7. I dug the fight from multiple Celtics. The 76ers (now finally healthy and together) were simply the more talented team.

The Celtics were a bunch of overachieving try-hards all season. While the 76ers were an angsty bunch who barely played together all season. Sometimes, talent wins out when the games become more intense and more of a slog.

I'm not feeling bad for the Mavs. They get Flag and then hire a top GM. They are gonna be just fine.

That's good for us. The guy they did hire seems plenty intriguing. It seems weird that Dennis Lindsey hasn't been able to get a top job again.

Coolbreeze44 wrote: Wed Apr 15, 2026 7:52 pm Banchero just keeps on getting thicker and thicker. Muscle is great, but you're ligaments and tendons don't get stronger just because the rest of you does. I believe the future of sports nutrition is going to focus on strength without bulk.
Apparently, it doesn't help with your shooting either. Banchero has pretty much leveled off through his four years in the league. Good player, but not near a transcendent player... and possibly not even a franchise player. It seems like Scottie Barnes is getting thicker as well, or maybe I've just noticed his size more this season. Three-point shooting is a bugaboo for both.

To be fair, Barnes had a little uptick this season (5th year). The key for both of their teams is finding a better player to lead the way because it seems Tor and Orl have similar ceilings with these guys as THE guys.

So I mention Banchero and Barnes a couple weeks ago as a couple of guys who've stagnated. Well...

Barnes:
24.1 ppg
6.1 reb
8.7 apg
1.1 stl
1.7 blk
51 / 38 / 80 shooting splits

Banchero:
26.3 ppg
9.0 reb
6.3 apg
1.4 stl
0.7 blk
42 / 33 / 68 shooting splits

Both led their teams to a 7th game as underdogs. Both are big and strong and tough and really really good!

I'd like to see better shooting (especially Banchero) but that's picking nits at this point.

I was looking forward to the OKC v LAL series. However after witnessing a 'flop off' tonight between SGA and Reeves I think I might give the rest of the games a miss....... Such pathetic basketball compared to what we've be watching.

Today at work we had a conversation about bad acting and sports and my boss did a reenactment of Basketball players flopping in dramatic fashion. It was hilarious. She doesn't care much about sports and also is like 5" tall.
