Yeah, I more or less agree with monster's and cool's take on AB...hoping we don't give him up for trash, but rather give him a little more time to live up to his potential.

One angle of the AB situation that hasn't been discussed is this...does he even want to be here? The whole missing Summer League thing doesn't make sense to me. I understand the allure of playing for your country, but other Canadians trying to establish their place in the NBA (Stauskas and Heslip, for example) opted to play in Summer League instead. You would think a guy on the bubble like AB would really want to use every opportunity to earn his way into the rotation. It's possible that he wants Flip to decline his option so he can start fresh with another team, even though he would be missing out on a nice paycheck in 2016-7.

We don't know what AB is thinking, but here's a possible scenario. Back in January when he committed to play in the Can-Ams, perhaps he was dissatisfied with being buried behind Thad Young at PF. And then when Flip traded a 1st rounder for Payne, it may have reinforced his opinion that he wasn't needed here. It's the only logical explanation for AB skipping Summer League.

The way I see it, he can either put up big numbers as the main guy on team Canada or be one of 6 prospects (Tyus, Lavine, Bazz for a couple games, AP, Towns and AB) playing on the SL team who are also on the big league roster. Which opportunity allows him to make a bigger impression because that's his only chance at this point to both stay on our roster and possibly play? I also don't think Flip put up much of a fight to the idea.

Why do we have to be the team that always tries to rehabilitate NBA busts? Who remembers Kandi (taken first overall), Darko (second overall), Michael Beasley (second overall), Eddie Griffin and now AB. Are we better for taking on these guys? We got a great core in place, we should be focused on finding complimentary pieces and good role players rather than rehabbing a guy that many think is on track to be the worst bust in recent memory. Even if AB were to find lightning in a bottle, I don't think he makes the team any better. He's a weak defender and terrible passer and I think we'll have plenty of scorers that are more efficient or just as efficient as him.

Yeah, I thought about that, khans, and maybe that's what his agent advised him to do. I think it's poor strategy though. If he's not traded, he's likely going to be competing for minutes with Payne. AB may put up big numbers in the CanAm games, but it will probably seem to Flip like putting up numbers in D League. Meanwhile, Payne is out in Vegas building chemistry with likely second teamers Tyus, Lavine, and Bazz. It seems like he is conceding a big advantage to Payne.

We have 15 players on the roster now counting AB, bud, bjelica, kg and hummel. Getting a 3rd pg or another guard seems ideal but I wont rush into dumping AB/bud and make a bad deal.

Im okay with keeping AB/bud. I haven't given up on AB. I like him more than payne. If we went into the season without making another roster move il be fine. No need to rush or dump someone now.

That's an interesting perspective LST. I'll provide a different option. The Pan Am games seems like more of an honor than playing in the SL which is a nifty chance for guys to get in a few games and some guys to try trot out there and flash for every pro franchise on the planet. Bennett has more of a relationship with team Canada than the Wolves. Triano is a pretty legit guy so why not play there? As for his stock plenty of guys have looked good playing for their international teams. As I said before Flip may have even encouraged Bennett to play.

I don't know how much to take from Bennett choosing to play for team Canada instead of SL but it is interesting I suppose.

You nailed it, world. Flip need not make a decision until the deadline to trim the roster to 15, shortly before the season begins. That's plenty of time to see how AB is doing, whether Payne is "getting it", or whether Pek can even play - maybe an extra roster spot will appear if Pek can't play!

So we can have our 3rd PG and eat our cake, too, for quite some time (well, not you AB. No cake eating for you!).

I agree Tim. I'm all for giving AB some more time even if its for face saving purposes or to convince the fan base that they have gone the extra mile to give AB a chance. But once the season starts, I'd say good riddance if we have no intent to tender a QO. And I think Flip would be stupid to tender him unless he showed remarkable improvement in all facets of his game this summer.

After watching uber athletic guys like Wes, Hollins, D-will and Payne over the years I gotta at least give AB some props because he actually finishes dunks.

That dunk Hollins had on Blatche though was CRAZY. That has to be one of the most ridiculous athletic dunks ever by a Wolf. I just watched it like 10 times.
