I thought he had like 8 3P's I heard in game 1, kind of exactly what is needed. You get hot from 3P land and force Wemby out of the paint. It's the only way. If he still hangs in the paint then keep shooting it.AussieWolf3 wrote: ↑Wed May 20, 2026 9:26 pmOk in real time I just watched Alex bleeping Curuso do some nasty shit on offense to Wemby and the 3 ball had nothing to do with itAussieWolf3 wrote: ↑Wed May 20, 2026 9:23 pmI'm just not convinced this is the only answer. All 5 guys shooting it well and spacing out the bigs. Just hope you can knock down enough to win, like Boston did a few years ago. Lots of offense, just enough defense too.

I was refreshing to 2 specific plays that were basically tricky pass to back door cutters after drawing Wemby in to block a middy. That's not the best description, but it works.Wolvesfan21 wrote: ↑Thu May 21, 2026 8:58 amI thought he had like 8 3P's I heard in game 1, kind of exactly what is needed. Again, I just refuse to believe that Wemby is going to so pervasive an influence that the only hope for the whole league is to field shoot and pray lineup's, because for one there aren't enough good shooters in the world to make that sustainable.

In game one SGA made a great move on his guy and dove in for the layup. Wemby is on the other side of the court spaced out since he has to defend the three point line. If it's Rudy in the paint there, SGA gets his shot blocked. Five good shooters, can also lead to more attacking the hoop. Shannon learning how to shoot with his right hand on the right side of the lane could certainly help his finishing with Wemby near. In games one and six he looked like he didn't care much that Wemby was there and attacked. Ant despite the knees also attacked well when he could and wasn't too afraid of Wemby. Give us a healthy Ant next year and tell him to attack all game.AussieWolf3 wrote: ↑Thu May 21, 2026 10:19 amI was refreshing to 2 specific plays that were basically tricky pass to back door cutters after drawing Wemby in to block a middy. ...but you need shooters (including mid-range shooters) to draw up those plays to begin with, as Rap alludes to in his response. The point of 5-out isn't just to constantly launch 3's and hope and pray they go in, but to create the spacing needed to get guys driving and cutting to the hoop for shots at the rim. Wemby has to respect SGA as a mid-range shooter and suddenly Caruso has become a flame thrower that he can no longer ignore.AussieWolf3 wrote: ↑Thu May 21, 2026 10:19 amI was refreshing to 2 specific plays that were basically tricky pass to back door cutters after drawing Wemby in to block a middy. The OKC/Spurs series has been a great watch so far. Unfortunately, it looks like the Spurs may finally succumb to the injury bug that we and so many other teams have encountered. Losing Fox AND Harper is devastating. Hopefully at least one of them is back for Game 3.
Losing JDubs (hamstring) on any other team not named the Thunder would also be devastating, but Presti has an assembly line of outstanding guards and wings that can step in, with Ajay Mitchell seamlessly filling in as a secondary ball handler and scorer.

No you're absolutely right! And that's actually what I'm saying, smart ball movement is needed.Q-is-here wrote: ↑Thu May 21, 2026 11:55 am...but you need shooters (including mid-range shooters) to draw up those plays to begin with, as Rap alludes to in his response. Im responding specifically to someone posting "get 3 point shooters and hope enough go in"
A lot of Wolves people were also talking like that during our series.
Obviously Celtics style, shoot a high volume of 3s could be an answer, but it's not going to be the only answer

That has to be the first step though, creating the threat otherwise he never leaves the paint and you're job driving to the rim as stated is near impossible. I hate to point to Jaden, but in game 6 Wemby was leaving him pretty open in the corners and he didn't hit them. The key is to punish the other team for leaving guys open. You don't punish it your whole offense fails. So yeah, you got to shoot the 3 and keep shooting it. Then once you draw out the defenders can you punish them inside.AussieWolf3 wrote: ↑Thu May 21, 2026 12:35 pmNo you're absolutely right!
