Teague was bad tonight also
Utah double or triple teamed Towns all night. Credit Utah. Wolve's open shooter has to make shots. That's not on Ryan.
We ran Kat off 0 screens to get Kat open looks. We ran a lineup of Wiggins, culver, cov, graham and dieng with 5 minutes left. How the fuck do we score with that lineup.
If they are doubling Kat why is Graham in if he can't shoot one lick and no threat to attack the hoop off the catch.
Jazz damn good at D but we did nothing make there job harder.
I know you hated Thibs so you have to defend Ryan at all costs but he can have a bad game and this was one of them.
Teague struggled also. And Wiggins was inifecient tonight.
But the wolves need to find a way to get Kat more than 10 shots (where 3 were desperation end of the game shots)
I think we did try a couple of high pnrs for kat, but the jazz just switched and had their guard keep a hand on Kat then they took their chances of our handlers taking on gobert in attacks or allow the grahams and goberts of the world to take wide open shots. Culver was blocked at the rim what felt like 10 times this game by gobert.

I'm still trying to figure out Culver. Sometimes he looks tentative and weak. Other times he looks crafty and sneaky athletic. His shot looks kinda broken, but it does have a nice arc and the makes look pure. I got a feeling he could make a big leap in Year 2, which is unlike me to think about that with any Wolves rookie.

They ran 0 pin downs. 0 flare screens. No elevator action. Jazz are a good defensive team but we did nothing to make Kats job easier.
Wolves have been a top 13 offense the last 3 years (13th last year, 4th, 10th respectively). Wolves this year are 4 to 6 pts worse per 100 possessions. Still super early so things can go up quickly but wolves haven't been dynamic offensively this year. (Some of it is the lack of shooters)

Ryan can only use the players on the roster who he had no part in choosing a luxury that Thibs had but Ryan doesn't. And if you don't like the personnel Ryan uses, blame Thibs the GM for the crappy roster he left the Wolves with. The Wolves with Thibs barking on the sideline was painful to watch and under Ryan, I enjoy watching the games again, win or lose.

That is where I'm at. Confusing player. If/when the game slows down for him I think he is going to be a solid piece for the warriors in a couple of weeks when they trade for DLO :)

Culver is a rookie who didn't play Summer League. He hustles and puts effort on both sides. Once he gains experience and confidence, he could be a nice building block for the future.
Keep in mind that Darius Garland is shooting even worse than Culver and there are several on this board who preferred Garland.

If you squint, sometimes you'll get a Shaun Livingston type vibe from Jarrett Culver. There's good and bad with that.
I agree with the point Q made and I've made it myself. Culver will keep getting better. His entire track record says so.

Fair. Just saying because Ryan is a good dude doesn't mean he gets 0 blame especially when if comes to not coming up with a way to get your best players shots.
Even though thibs wasn't made to run this team long term. His boring, yelling, hard to watch offense has been more successful than Ryan system so far.
I hope Ryan figures out ways to maximize this team because I feel like he has the right temperament for this team just worried about the long term Xs and Os

I wouldnt take much for Culver to improve his shot. Basically hitting 50% of free throws would be a start.

Why do you dislike Culver so much. I know you didn't like him out of the draft. But I think you are one of the least bias and a super thoughtful posters here but it feels like with Culver you have an extreme sour spot for him
