Utah at Minnesota: Wolves Looking For The Sweep
Utah's favored by three points tonight against the Wolves in the second matchup of the season series. I find that interesting considering Andrew Wiggins was at shootaround this morning and is reportedly a game-time decision to play, but I think he'll give it a go.
Jake Layman is out tonight and day-to-day moving forward with that foot injury. Josh Okogie wasn't on the injury report that I saw so I'd assess that he'll play tonight.
I wonder if we'll see Gorgui Dieng steal Noah Vonleh's minutes yet again tonight. That's a development worth keeping an eye on, especially because it doesn't make a whole lot of sense. Dieng has done nothing to convince me that he should be getting those backup minutes. It makes me wonder if there's some off-court issues with Vonleh that we aren't seeing. That's just my speculation.
Kelan Martin better be ready to go tonight, regardless of if Wiggins can suit up or not. Minnesota's even more desperate for shooting with Layman being sidelined so it would bode well for the Wolves to get a hot-shooting Martin -- instead of the ice cold version we saw prior to Monday night.
Round 2: Karl-Anthony Towns vs. Rudy Gobert. That doesn't need much build up, but it'll always be a fun matchup to watch. That is, if we even get to see it. I could certainly see the Jazz making adjustments that leave a more mobile defender on Towns in order to allow Gobert to plant himself near the rim. Monday's game rendered Gobert less effective because he was camped out around the perimeter with Towns.
Minnesota revealed their City uniforms earlier today -- an icy blue and white color scheme with a boxy MSP (Minneapolis-Saint Paul) on the chest and a wolf logo on the side of the shorts. Share what you think of them below as I'm curious. I think they're okay, but they strike me as too simplistic and too similar to North Carolina Tar Heels uniforms. They definitely aren't as good as last year's Purple Reign themed uniforms, in my opinion.

Wiggs got sick from taking care of his sick baby daughter. If he plays, i wonder if saunders will ease him off the bench like he did with teague.
Gobert vs kat
I would not be surprised if snyder has gobert covering graham or okogie tonight. Kat going out to the 3 pt line gave gobert some problems. 1 week off from basketball is pretty substantial.

Agreed! It looks like someone had a midnight deadline & threw these together at 11:55. I've got a 3yr old niece with more creativity than this

Nice analysis, Cam. Those City uniforms are horrible!! The designer should be embarrassed by them and the organization should be ashamed of them.

1. I guess I see no problem with Dieng over Vonleh. I haven't seen much from Vonleh to think anything other than "meh."
2. The cash grab new jerseys are fine for what they are. Obviously, they're not going to knock it out of the park every time. I would have maybe gone with more of a river angle... maybe make the shape of the Mississippi that separates the cities part of the piping on the shorts or something?
And I immediately thought of the airport when I saw MSP.

Re: Utah at Minnesota: Wolves Looking For The Sweep
- Utah would be dumb NOT to try to put Gobert on Graham or Okogie and just dare them to shoot. More teams should be doing this honestly.
- My guess is that Dieng has been picked over Vonleh recently because he offers a bit more offensive skill and with Wiggins out we needed to squeeze whatever offense we could out of the roster.
- I have no idea what to think of the MSP jerseys. I'm not a purveyor of haute couture like you guys....
- Tough to beat a good team like Utah twice in a row, regardless of home court.

I could have designed the cities jersey.

Harumph on all four points. A big part of our win was Mitchell going 5-23 and Ingles never got rolling.
Okogie and Graham do a dang good job of being physical with scorers . . . let's hope Okogie can play tonight because a sick Wiggins can't keep Mitchell from getting around him.
