They are saying we signed Sheldon Richardson. Wow.

I am still hoping Jaleel will come on strong in second year.

Richardson signed to a one year prove it deal! I like it, a lot as it'll open up that cap space for resigning other players next year if he doesn't prove worthy and give them the inside track if he does!

He hasn't done much the last couple years so we'll see. Kind of a lower risk deal being 1 year. I like it if he can regain some of his old form.

While he hasn't had many sacks the past couple years he was among the league leaders in QB pressures and hits. You don't always have to take the QB down, just screw with his timing and force him to improvise when you have 2nd and 3rd level talent like the Vikings do! Besides, he'll get a lot less attention playing between Joseph and Griffen/Hunter, they'll help him succeed every bit as much as his presence will help them!

I don't know what he will bring but he seems like a bigger player than Tom Johnson who had a solid season but Richardson is a 27 year old guy that could be someone that sticks around for a while. Was Johnson more effective all around as a starter because he was better or because he was playing ina. Really good defense? I like Tom Johnson and thought he could be a solid starter but the upside for Richardson in this defense is way higher and Tom Johnson made over 3 million last year he may get more than that this year as he may be considered more of a starting level player even though he is older.

Vikings let go Jarius Wright. I was hoping they could restructure but really why would Wright do tat he probably wasn't going to have much of a role here and maybe he figured he could get a decent contract somewhere. I'll be sad he is gone but it makes sense to save some money.

I wish we could do a one year deal with Mathieu as well just to make another run before we have to pay a bunch of guys next year. He could fill it at slot and safety and gives us another playmaker on that side of the ball.

Saw a video from Seahawks saying how losing Sheldon huge. He was the one guy they wanted to keep. It will be interesting. Still no word on Robison. Honestly, I am not sure how much of a role he has anymore other than a leader in the lockerroom. I would like to see us still get some FA help at OG and CB. If Berger is not back we have a problem.

I don't think Robison is going anywhere and I doubt he ends up taking much if any pay cut. He is making a little over 3 million and 1.2 of that is guaranteed. He took a pay cut last year and there is probably still a role for the guy as someone that can play all over the line. I was a bit surprised at how little Murray actually gave up when he restructured. The Vikings must have really wanted to keep him.

Also some of the top guards have gotten PAID already. If the Vikings wanted to wait to get a guard till later (while also waiting to see if Berger decides to play) that wouldn't be the worst approach. There are always a few vet guards available when the beginning of the season is near and there is a chance they draft a player to take that starting spot.
