Really happy for KAT and his Father. Brunson is to be lauded and given everything he has coming to him. It was a tremendous playofs for him.
I was cheering for this Spurs, but I agree with both of your sentiments. I love KAT, but the Knicks won last night in spite of him rather than because of him...1 for 7 with 5 turnovers, and the only starter with a negative plus minus. If Ju had put up a line that bad in the playoffs, we'd be coming after him with pitchforks. Everything is rosy in Knicksland right now, but their fans were down on him much of the season. You have to wonder how they are going to view his contract when they go back and review his stats in the finals. 13/10, less than a trey per game, 2.6 turnovers and 4.6 fouls per game is not what we want to see from a guy owed $57 and $61 million the next two seasons.
Come on FNG. You are the biggest +\- guy in world and Kat just broke the +\- playoff run record in nba history. How you view the game you should be celebrating Kat just had the greatest NBA playoffs for any player to ever play in the playoffs in the +\- era
I'm happy for Towns. He is basically the same guy he was here both on and off the court good and less good or wharever. In this series from my view he was the 3rd best player on the team behind Brunson and OG. He won a title and I don't think he ever cared if he was the #1 guy or not. The problem was that he often put too much on himself.
The Knicks made a number of moves that put all together brought them a championship after quite a few years of futility in that regard. Someday that could be the Wolves. OG being the 2nd best player on a championship team gives sort of a blueprint for McDaniels to be that level of player. It's a very different situation but seeing that franchise get there stuff together after being a bit of a joke gives me additional hope.

A few thoughts on the Spurs:
- Poor De'Aaron Fox. Man, did he come up empty in these last couple of big games and will be the scapegoat for Spurs fans I'm sure.
- Contrarian Thought: Fox's contract and the Spurs' desire to get off it could mean they'd be willing to give other assets up to a taker, right? Is there ANY world where it might make sense for the Wolves to take on Fox's deal with the Spurs 2026 1st (#20) thrown in for the trouble in exchange for Randle & DDV. I actually think Randle makes some sense on the Spurs, especially after the way Keldon Johnson flopped. They really could use another big body. Would anyone do a deal like this?
- Wemby is a total game changer defensively, but offensively he has a long ways to go to become a true force multiplier. He generally can be guarded one on one and just has problems squaring up for good, balanced shots. As a result, he wasn't much of a threat in crunch time and it was left to Harper and Fox to try to close games and Fox especially just isn't a #1 type guy.
- OKC still seems like the top dog in the West when you look at their talent, depth, experience, and draft capital.
A middling pick isn't enough incentive to hamstring the team completely.

Also I saw somewhere probably on Twitter that someone said Towns winning a title before Jimmy brought them joy which I wont disagree with! Lol

There is that, kek... but one thing I believe we have universal agreement on here is that +/- can be misleading in a small sample size. I love it as an indicator over a season or a career, but not over such a small ss. Once they come down off the sugar high, I suspect Knicks fans will be looking more at his overall poor raw stats in the playoffs than his +/- when discussing the possibility of an extension for close to $70 million a year! That's 1A or 1B money, and KAT was neither under the bright lights.

I’m mostly trolling and you are right Kat might be gone because of his contract (even though he might be the best Wemby counter in the league). Just thought it was funny that you used a 1 game small sample size with a bad +/- to discredit Kat but in a larger sample size of the whole playoffs (I agree still a small sample size) he had the greatest playoffs in nba history for your favorite stat. We all do it but I chuckled at the picking and choosing when to use stats that fit our narratives. Once again we all do this

Different Champ 8 straight years….so wolves will win by 2054 at the latest? If the trend holds…
Glad to add Kat to the list of second chance former Mn guys to get a title. He’s always been a stand up guy and caught strays for his troubles. I personally didn’t think he could be a top guy on a title team, technically he still isn’t but he silenced a lot of haters by evolving his game to suit the team. He did that in MN as well and earned his contract because of it. Maybe TC should have seen the future better to avoid the cap and apron ramifications. Maybe he shouldn’t have made the Rudy trade and just kept riding the organic growth…but the take away here is that you have to play the season out. No one can predict it. It’s all a gamble. It’s best laid plans. It’s fun to watch. Sure it’s their lives but the league is a sieve that has filtered every kid whoever picked up a ball down into like 50 we can remember as being among the greats. No one thought Brunson was in that convo even 2 years ago. Excited to see what the roster looks like in October and to have the hope renewed again. It’s what sport is all about. Next years our year!
I wouldn't fire a coach because coaching changes don't work. That blew up in your face real quick.
It’s not a cure all. It’s failed more often than it works. It didn’t work for any other team this year that had a new coach. It’s a single variable and it’s not predictive of success. Cherry pick all you want though,
