Twins Top 10 Prospects
First off when talking about trades I think its needed to update the twins Top 10 prospects with Grade Levels. So this is my top 10 list. The problem with Top 10 Twins list it doesn't show how many 11-20 type prospects we have to be able to throw in trades. I would say the Twins have 11-20 type of prospects all the way up to 30. We're absolutely stocked with those type of prospects
1. Royce Lewis SS Grade (A)
Even though Royce Lewis is having a terrible year with OPS of .600 he's still young and might be more hurt then he's letting on. I will say though just like Andrew Wiggins the time to trade him for his max value is now because if we wait two years from now we won't even come close in the return we would get for him.
2. Alex Kirilloff Grade OF/1B (A)
You're going to hear me say this a lot but another prospect with injured riddle season. His bat is starting to get back on track and I find it very interesting that the Twins are starting the Transition to first base for him.
3. Brusdar Graterol Grade SP (A-/A)
Once again, another top prospect sidelined with a shoulder injury. Before the injury Brusdar was killing it with 1.9 Era and almost 9 k/9. I've talked to a couple of my friends from the Molitor regime and one of them said think he has better pure stuff than Berrios but said there's injury concerns with him.
4. Trevor Larncach OF/1B Grade (B+)
There's not much to say about Larncach besides that he's very above average My problem is I just don't think he will be anything above a James Loney type. Honestly the twins are hoping that he turns into Crohn but because we already have him why do we need another one.
5. Brent Rooker 1B(B)
.908 OPS 24 years old and ready to go. The problem is he's 24 and the twins have no spots avaiable for him this year or next year. This makes him a very expendable asset.
6. Jordan Balazovic (B)
Balazovic owns a 13.1 K/9 and 1.7 BB/9 just absolutely stunning over 51 innings hopefully he can stick as a starting pitcher.
7 Jhoan Duran (B)
He's the main player we got back in the Escolobar trade and he's striking out nearly 10 K/9 he's only in A ball right now but another name to watch in the coming years.
8. Nick Gordon 2B (B-)
Honestly Gordon is the most average player ever. Doesn't hit for Power doesn't steal a lot of bases he's okay fielder and has okay arm. I think he's pretty much destined for a utility infielder role.
9. Wander Javier SS (B-)
A lot of people say that he's very good short stop prospect. Who has also been injured this year. I don't know a bunch about him, but he seems like a great throw in trade candidate.
10. Keoni Cavaco 3B (C+)
Twins First round pick. Very young we will see where it goes hopefully we hit a home run here.

Re: Twins Trade Deadline/MidSeason Top 10 prospects
Instead Of Listing all the Different Starting pitchers and other players. I will say what I would do at the Deadline.
I would Trade Royce Lewis & Jhoan Duran for Jacob DeGrom or Max Schezer and offer to pay 1/2 of the salary. We finally get an ace who's locked up for 4 more years at around 23 mil and The they get there SS of the future hopefully. Schezer is hard to trade for because he has Bobby Bonilla contract where gets paid 2032-2038 i believe.
Twins Trade Trevor Larnach or Brent Rooker & Nick Gordon & 3rd tier prospect for Bumgarner and Will smith. Both guys are rentals making there value go down.
Move Martin Perez to the Bullpen, We need a second lefty and with acquiring two starters he's a perfect candidate for the bullpen with 97+ fastball and that new found cutter.
Liam Hendricks straight up for 2 11-20 prospects. Go look how good Liam has been in the bullpen this year for the Athletics. There's even talks going on when Treinen comes back from the IL that he will remain the closer.
With this Plan this Gives us a Berrios/DeGrom/Odo/Bum playoff rotation. We add 3 arms to the bullpen techianlly with Perez going to the bullpen.
If we go after an Ace were going to have to give up an A&B prospect and eat some of money on these big contracts. Obviously we could absorb the whole contract and give up lesser prospects.
As for bullpen arms there are so many that you don't need to give up a lot of capital. The days of Wilson Ramos for Matt Capps are over. I really do think this realistic plan for the team.

Thanks for the list jester. Name maybe the most interesting or intriguing guy not on your top 10 list. If you want to bake more that's ok also. ;)

Blayne Enlow would be my bobble guy. He throws pretty hard with mid 90s fastball but he just randomly loses control at times. He reminds me of Alex Meyer without the tallness. It just depends if he becomes more consistent or not.

Interesting. Did you see Meyer retired last week?

Yes I did. He just never could find his command consistently. I do remember him being so
old when he made his debut and I just looked and he turns 30 in January. This why I think Rooker will be gone at the deadline he's almost 25 and we have our first baseman and DH for next year already. That means Rooker would make his Debut as a 27 year old.

I sure hope I don't feel like all the wolves fans do tonight about DLO in a month about the Twins trade deadline.

The difference is that I think there is actual hope that some guys can come almost literally out of nowhere to be really good bullpen arms. It's a lot less likely you find some dude playing in some random international basketball league league in sugerland Texas and that guy actually becomes an important part of your squad. Simmons for the Spurs is probably the closest to that and it's pretty rare. Another MASSIVE difference is the Twins have both salary flexibility AND assets to move for guys they want. I know Wolfson claimed last week that the prices for pitchers was super high which doesn't seem surprising. I do think he has some really legit connections when it comes to baseball especially the Twins.

Re: Twins Trade Deadline/MidSeason Top 10 prospects
Just had lunch with a guy I trust that has some ties still with the organization had some interesting things to say. I'll just break up by parts of our conversation.
1. The Twins are going after Matt Boyd hard and believe he can even be better with Wes Johnson help. They love his spin rate The tigers want Brusdar and Gordon. The twins are offering Gordon and Balazovich. Boyd arbitration eligible for 3 years
2. There's also rumors the Twins top 3 prospects are untouchable. This is not true the Twins are willing to to trade Kirilloff for the right person. He said he had been told the asking price for Kirby Yates was Kirilloff and PTBNL and twins passed. This is a similar deal the Indians made for Brad Hand last year.
3. Most scouts think Brusdar would've made the starting rotation next year but with his shoulder injury there not sure now. They also think he would've been in the bullpen by the trade deadline.
4. Royce Lewis Oblique strain was more serious than reported and is the reason he struggled so early on. Since June 19th he's batting .297 avg with an Ops of .880 and strike out rate of 18%. They hope he has another good month and half and would like him to reach double A by the end of the year.
5. There looking hard at Seth Lugo, they believe he has same type of spin rate as Presley did.
6. They asking price for Bumgarner and Will Smith is ridiculous. They want Two of our top 3 prospects. This is crazy amount for two rentals.

Good info. I just listened to Souhan and Roy Smalley on their podcast and they said giving up good talent for a rental makes no sense. They weren't saying don't give up anything just not too guys. Wolfson reported a couple weeks ago the price around the league for pitchers was pretty insane so what you have reported here confirms that and it's later in the season.
