Special teams thread

Post by Monster »

I saw that there are teams interested in Locke. It's kinda funny in a way but if he hadn't fell off the map the last few games he would look really appealing as he was performing pretty well before that. He could be getting ready to break through and be a legit punter.

The guy they signed for competition/fallback option is Taylor Symmank. The crazy thing about his is he ran a 4.54 at his pro day. Across the. Pats his pro day times were better than Marquette King. It doesn't matter but it's interesting. lol

Should we keep Forbath? I would say yes. He wasn't perfect but nobody is. It makes sense to keep Locke and Forbath together with the long snapper as they all have worked together quite a bit in offseasons and then for a few games last season.

If Patterson leaves who becomes the KR? I think Moritz is a guy that's plenty intriguing. Can he do the other special teams stuff? Dude is a big physical freak it's possible he wouldn't be fun to block as a gunner.

For a number of years ST was a pretty good aspect of this team and the last couple years it's been...adventurous at best. The Vikings have had top returners for a number of years but since Kluwe left it's either been a punter or kicker that's been...meh or unreliable. Oh for the days of Longwell and Kluwe... lol

I forgot about Locke. ST has been an adventure.

Haha it's funny Locke got signed by another team. Honestly I've thought for at least a year he could be a guy that figures it out and becomes a good punter. I don't mind the Vikings let him go though he got a nice contract worst case scenario if a young guy sucks they can sign some older guy to punt.

Locke a below average punter is gonna get paid again. The Lions punter tore his ACL and Locke won the job in a tryout. He already made 1,250,000 from the Colts and now he will get another few hundred thousand.

Meanwhile Quigley punted well last night and while Forbaith missed a PAT his KOs were plenty good. That shorter one I would bet was on purpose.

I'm actually not that surprised because by my eye test the coverage has been very good. It may also say more about some other team's complete units than it does about how amazing we have been. Are we actually the best ST unit? Idk but other than a couple plays it's been a pleasant surprise.
