Teddy returns against the Ravens Thread
Teddy is practicing. Who knows when and if he will return, but it is good to see him back.
This is a must-win for us if we want to win the division. We are 4.5 point favorites and I think we blow them out.

Thielen has some complimentary stuff to say about Keenum the other day. I don't think people talk about Keenum's athletic ability enough and Thielen talked about his work ethic being the first truck in the parking lot in the morning.

Re: Teddy returns against the Ravens Thread
Keenum has been a very pleasant surprise, and I'm more than comfortable with him starting this week against the Ravens. But with the Vikings looking like a likely division champion this season, I believe we want to see Teddy QBing late in the year and Case backing up...at least if Teddy is at all ready to play. I'm going to the game Sunday, and my fondest hope is that we get up by 3 TDs in the 4th quarter so Teddy can get a couple mop-up reps.

My impression of Teddy when he played was "young and upcoming QB" versus an actually very good one (kinda like Wiggins or LaVine - yeah, potential stars, but the results aren't quite there yet). Given the fact he wasn't exactly a star QB when he got hurt and all this time away, why would we want to start him at all this season? It seems to me that Keenum is the guy to go with for as far as he can take us this year.

I would bet a lot of things I value including my cat eddie that Teddy will not be active this week.

I absolutely agree with your assessment of Teddy preinjury. As much as I love Teddy he certainly hadn't arrived yet although there was some hype from him before the injury. I was think about this a few days ago and think there are a few things to consider during Teddy's time as a starting QB.
1. Offensive line. Most of the time it was either below average or bad. Maybe it was never as bad as it was last year for Sam but it was never good.
2. Often the offense was not based around his strengths and he had to cater to having AP around. Honestly ai think he probably looked the best his rookie year when he took over for Cassel and was able to just do his thing.
3. Weapons around him. The RBs when AP went down we're average at best. WRs? They likely haven't emerged but I also think maybe it was Thielen that seemed to do well when he was the QB. I believe Rudolph was hurt most of one year but I could be wrong. The players that would be around him now if he stepped foot on the field (assuming there are no more terrible injuries) will Be better than he had before. Mike Wallace was a good player but his abilities were not a good fit.
So...in theory if he came back he would have an offense catered to what he does well, better oline and some legit high level WR to throw to. So maybe we would see Teddy get the ball put quicker and have some time to hit some open players down field.
Now will Teddy end up being a bette roption this year than Keenum? Idk that's a legit and interesting question. It seems likely Keenum is going to have a couple more weeks to make a strong CASE for keeping the job as more than just a placeholder this season. I don't have much faith that Bradford will be able to play much this season. I don't think they want to let Sloter go. They could use a young developmental QB espcially since we have no idea who the starter will be next year.

Yeah, I think you're right, monster. Paul Allen said he was not very impressive in practice yesterday (I haven't heard anything yet about today)...not too surprising.

Not again. Here's how #Vikings WR Jarius Wright said Teddy Bridgewater has looked in practice: "Like a black Joe Montana.''
To be serious they are gonna take some time. There is no reason to put that guy out there after a week or 2 of practicing. Of course this is the Vikings who you could argue rushed Freeman and Bradford on the field a couple different times so yeah.

Good breakdown Monster. I guess I'm just questioning why it's even a question to begin with that he would start. Be 2nd or 3rd string? Sure. But actually put him out there to start an NFL game ahead of Keenum? I don't think so.
