Earlier this week, McClung scored 40 points to go with 8 assists and 4 rebounds. Also this week, Sharif Cooper scored 33 points along with 7 assists. The Wolves should have used one of their two-way contracts to sign one of these two young PGs.

FWIW Matt Ryan had six 30 point games last year and was very efficient shooting the ball in the G-league.

I would have taken a flyer on either of these PG types too but if you really think they are awesome the Wolves could sign one of them to an NBA deal right now and let someone go. Maybe they can even still move on from Matt Ryan now I can't remember when it is that 2-way deals are locked in. Regardless the point is that it's not too late to get either guy.

A couple of things to consider for both of these guys.

Cooper is doing a ton but is turnovers are pretty high for all the G-league games this year at almost 5 a game.

McLung shot 31% from 3 in 18 showcase games before shooting over 40% in 9 regular season g-league games. Which guy is he? He just turned 24. Is that young enough? :)

Are these the only guys we should be considering?

Dunn is such a one-man wrecking crew defensively, but between his bad shot, bad turnovers, and bad injury luck, he just couldn't make it work in the NBA.

It's a fair point. I will say that Dunn when healthy can be an impactful NBA player in the right situation mostly because of his defense.

Meanwhile what kind of stats would Wendell Moore Jr put up if he was playing every game in the G-league?

Meanwhile what kind of stats would Wendell Moore Jr put up if he was playing every game in the G-league?

Probably something like 20/5/5 on decent percentages. He's just not a "wow" player and ultimately will need to make his mark as a 3&D guard that can may become a secondary ball handler as well....basically the role he played at Duke.

The absolute ideal ceiling for him is to eventually start next to Ant and share ball handling duties with him, with Moore, Jr. taking on the tougher defensive assignments along with Jaden. I think that's the ultimate vision, but it's a huge leap from where he is right now as a player.

I'm not holding out much hope for Moore Jr. I don't know if any of you play a sport (or two) where you have had the opportunity to play with pros...like in a pro-am. I have, and the speed of the game is at a level that's difficult to comprehend. That's what I sense Wendell is feeling when he's out there...he just doesn't look like he belongs to me. If you check his college stats, he was very mediocre his first two seasons at Duke. And while he shot better his junior year, he only made 1.3 3-point shots per game. Maybe he'll surprise me, but if I were Moore, I would be working on a second language in preparation for a career overseas.

Don't disagree. He's a guy that can be sneaky good, meaning if you watch him at first there is absolutely nothing impressive about his size, speed, or skills. But then he'll make some crafty or smart play and you begin to appreciate him a bit more.

The problem is I'm not sure his b-ball IQ and under-the-radar effectiveness is enough to counter his sheer lack of gravitas as a player on either end. He's more of a system player, which would definitely fit better in Europe.

We'll see though....too early to give up on him, but we can't earmark him for a key role next season yet.
