DLO Trades

Post by KG4Ever »

DLO is probably the most likely player to be traded if Wolves make a trade by all-star break. I am not expecting any great offers, but I think taking on someone else's overpaid player with two years on their contract should net us a draft pick. Also, two guys who have had success feeding Gobert the ball may be gettable: Mike Conley and Rubio.

Spitballing some ideas that match in Trade Machine:

DLO for Conley and Rudy Gay. Both Conley and Gay are signed for two years and I think Conley can still play. I'd do that deal even without pick compensation.

DLO for Kevin Love and Rubio. Love and Rubio would be welcomed by Wolves fanbase. Rubio, if he can stay healthy, can definitely move the rock. Love can still rebound well. Not sure Cavs would do it, but Garland is nicked up and DLO is healthier than Rubio who is expected to return from an ACL rehab.

DLO to Knicks for Fournier and Rose, plus draft compensation. Brunson has been hurt and so Knicks might want DLO. Fournier has three years left and Rose two, so we should get back some draft compensation with at least one first and another lottery protected first or two seconds. I'd rather Quickley than Rose, but not sure Knicks do it or if they do, they cut back on draft compensation and have to add another player to match salaries.

DLO for Lowry. Lowry has two years and supposedly this deal was brought up by one of the teams. I'd do it straight up but I'd try to get a second rounder thrown in to make up for the extra year.

I'd do the Knicks one if two firsts came back just for the maneuverability it provides, but then we would have no starting caliber pg. Oh well. A Brunson and Dlo backcourt would be extremely terrible defensively, so I doubt they do it.

For Lowry I would do it if we also get a first.

Utah, nope. Don't like the trade, and screw trading with them again.

Love Rubio, Love is OK, but I wouldn't do that trade as we're splitting Dlos value into two lesser parts that I don't see anyone wanting to trade for in the future and I doubt they would do it anyhow.

If we don't trade DLO by all-star break, he has no value, he is an unrestricted free agent. Frankly, I don't want him back and if we can get an asset back for him, that is a big plus. I'm content with having JMac and Ant run point if we don't get a point guard back, but I think Lowry, Conley or Rubio would be good fits with Gobert.

To be fair... many thought Kevin Love should have been 6th man of the year last season.

And even though he's only a 20 mpg guy at this stage... he's still an advanced stats and +/- darling once again.

He still rebounds at a solid clip and has hit 39%+ on threes the past two seasons. I can see how/why certain teams would value him more than Russell at this point even with the lower ceiling.

Might be reckless speculation but Dlo unfollowed the wolves today on twitter and IG and then he missed the game for being sick. Now sickness has went through the wolves this year but it is interesting

I'd do the Rubio and Love for Dlo trade for both on and of the court contributions. I'd pass on the rest of the deals.

At this point I'd rather ship out Gobert...what happened to the unstoppable defensive force?!? Did the game evolve or is he on the decline? Maybe Utah would take him back for Kessler and some change?

I think he was pretty darn good defensively tonight. I mean Jokic has his lowest FG% of the year tonight. Gobert primary assignment of Gordon was 4/18 (was shooting 60% on the year coming in) and Murray literally ran out of bounds late because he didn't want to contest Rudy.

Rudy has not been Utah levels good but the wolves are still only good over large stretch defensively when Rudy is on the court

Id only do the Lowry deal with some sort of extra movement. Wendell Moore Jr and Jovic would be a sweet swap. I dont know if the Heat would get rid of him though.

Yeah, not sure why people don't see this. We would be an absolute train wreck as a team on defense if he wasn't on the roster right now.

They have to figure out how to be better offensively with him on the floor. Whether that means involving him more, less, or the same....I have not a clue. But they just haven't been as good as they should be offensively with him on the floor.
