Wolves vs Warriors GDT
Mcdaniels now questionable with being sick
Re: Wolves vs Warriors GDT
While I'm generally in the "give it more time" crowd, on this particular day I don't think we stand a chance in hell.
Gee, a team that is shooting lights-out from 3 against a team that has been struggling to defend 3s and can't make them on the other end. What could possibly go wrong?

Doesn't sound promising, does it? And I don't like playing the world champs with three of our only five plus on/off players if Jaden is out. Then again, Golden State is currently the WORST road team in the Association at 1-9 with its only win over Hapless Houston. That's probably why Vegas has this one so close (GS- 1 1/2). I don't normally see games live, but I'm stuck at home with Covid and ready to watch this one.
Re: Wolves vs Warriors GDT
One thing we can all be thankful for on this Thanksgiving weekend is that there is no more discussion about who won the DLo/Wig trade. If it wasn't settled last year, it clearly is now with Wig following up last year's strong season with an even better year and Russell taking a step back.
I'm checking the Warriors' stats, and the entire starting unit has been terrific this season...they are blowing out their opponents. The problem is their bench, which I thought was pretty strong coming into the season. The 8 reserves getting significant minutes behind the starters are a combined -136.2 points per 100 possessions worse when they are on the court compared to off! Contrast that with the Wolves' bench. The 5 reserves getting significant minutes for the Wolves are a combined +18.1. That makes the absence of Prince and JMac today really a shame, because our bench just isn't as strong with them out.
That puts more pressure on our starters today. They looked very good against Indy last week, and even though Vegas has this game as a toss up, we are going to need a game like that from our starters to hang with the best starting five in the Association.

I'll be at the game covering for you, FNG. :). I'm expecting the worst and hoping I'll be pleasantly surprised. We have three players who can catch fire from behind the arc in any given game - KAT, Ant and DLO. If two of those three are on fire through most of this game and Gobert catches the lobs thrown his way, then the Wolves can win.

Have fun, Lip, and for God's sake don't boo! One thing I just thought of how terrible Wig was every time I went to a day game. It's like he had just woken up and wasn't ready to play...every time. We can only hope that Sleepy Wig shows up today.
I expect we'll start SloMo, don't you think, if Jaden can't go? I've enjoyed watching him this season, so it will be fun to see him with more minutes today if he starts. Still, I'd prefer to have Jaden on Klay and SloMo anchoring our depleted reserves, so let's hope Jaden can go. Anyway, we're counting on you to keep us over .500 with a win today!

Man, I forgot how much the Timberwolves were winning with Andrew Wiggins on the roster. Can someone tell me what their record was with him over the six seasons he was with Minnesota? Was it 166-276 (.376) and 145-198 (.423) with Karl-Anthony Towns? They should have just waited for that lucky seventh season. Surely, he would have ascended for us and the wins would have followed!
What's Jonathan Kuminga up to these days? Surely, he's on his way to stardom despite his uncertain inclusion within Golden State's rotation and picking up healthy DNP-CD's along the way, right? Too early to tell either way!
In all seriousness, that trade has been discussed more than plenty here, there, and everywhere. Minnesota was always going to lose any Wiggins trade in a vacuum given the circumstances. Their high-ceiling wing either couldn't or wouldn't play to his optimal level in a Wolves uniform and was already locked into his max contract with multiple years left on the books requiring draft capital be attached to him in order to find a taker. And that's without receiving anything of value back. That's the situation they were in.
If we zoom out, both teams got what they wanted from that trade. Both teams actually got better from that trade. It's as close to a win-win deal as it gets once you include the context. We can rehash this every time we play Golden State, or we can understand that the past is the past and the player Wiggins is today isn't the player who was traded several years ago -- not even close.
I expect this afternoon's game to be a tough one to win, but it's not a scheduled loss either. The Warriors have been a different [worse] team on the road and their depth has remained a thorn in their side. If the Timberwolves can revert back to the team they were during the five-game winning streak -- especially the one who mopped the floor with the Pacers -- and avoid getting murdered in the third quarter, then I like their chances.

Rivers to start with Mcdaniels out

Ouch...not sure I saw that coming. Rivers/Russell backcourt and Ant at SF. At least it allows SloMo to lead the reserves. Maybe Nowell shows up today.

That's the logical decision, unfortunately. Minnesota needs someone to stick on Steph Curry with Jaden McDaniels being out. Kyle Anderson is too stiff and slow to stay on him. D'Angelo Russell is better-suited to defend Klay Thompson as a chaser. And Anthony Edwards still can't be trusted to handle prime defensive matchups like that. Let's hope Austin Rivers can at least make Curry work.
On another note, adding another point-of-attack defender is something I've been thinking about lately and Alex Caruso keeps coming to mind as the perfect trade target. Not sure they have enough to get him, though.
