For those of you that didn't see this...I'm relatively sure we are all of the same mind regarding Bazz!

Lol. I saw that report. Bazz was the main reason I ended up having lunch with Flip Saunders. My email to Flip complained about two things: (1) selling a first-round pick that we could have used to take Gobert; and (2) drafting Bazz. Flip argued with me on both points, saying we didn't have room for another young player like Gobert on our roster and that Bazz was really talented and would eventually become a starter in the NBA. I honestly didn't know how good Gobert would turn out to be, but I loved his standing reach and his potential at that point in the draft. I was convinced Bazz couldn't play at NBA speed and would be a bust. Flip failed to convince me otherwise on either point and I turned out to be prophetic. :)

The best thing about all this is that I experienced the joy of spending 90 minutes with Flip, which still remains one of the highlights of my life. He was one of the nicest, most engaging people I've ever met. And I got to hear so many fascinating behind-the-curtain stories. We remained in touch by email and running into each other at games talking about players and draft prospects, including KAT, until his illness and really sad untimely death. Bazz is one of those many bad Timberwolves memories. Meeting Flip remains one of the best memories.

That's some good stuff Lip.

I just watched Bazz's 60 point performance last November in whatever league it was. He looked like the same guy he was years ago. Maybe his 3 and his footwork for a step back was better but everything else looked the same. He is like countless other players if he can hit 3's sure he might have some use for a team that needs some scoring. Is he still bad as a defender? I'm guessing he isn't magically good. It seemed like he was at least giving it a go the last couple years he also just didn't have it on that end. It is a skill. His ball handling is still suspect especially for a guy that his value is as a scorer. It seems like based on the article he was humbled but still didn't really figure out how to make himself into something else. Maybe he simply can't. I was a fan of Bazz but I'd rather take a shot at some young guy (I know the question for this thread was likely was mostly in jest) that bring him in and it's not because I think he is a bad dude. Quite frankly I think I would rather have Micheal Beasley than Bazz. I heard and ad on the radio yesterday and Corey Brewer and Beasley are playing in the 3 on 3 league. Former Timberwolves representing!!!
