Not missing Matt Kalil

Post by bleedspeed »

In the tradition of Missing Ricky thread on Wolves board I started this thread.

http://vikingswire.usatoday.com/2017/09/26/things-arent-going-great-for-matt-kalil/

Through three games, Kalil has a Pro Football Focus grade of just 38.2, ranking 61st out of 72 graded players.

The two new tackles for the Vikings are ranked a bit higher. Riley Reiff has a PFF grade of 78.6, 18th in the NFL. Remmers is close behind with a grade of 77.9, 19th in the NFL.

Happy we moved on. Reiff and Remmers have been a huge upgrade.

I will say it's different protecting a player like Cam but yeah it doesn't seem to be going well. I don't really know how good (or bad) Reiff and Remmers have actually been but those grades for PPF might show just what the depth is at tackle that they are ranked that high.

Also Boone had an MRI this week for a possible Pectoral injury.

Not good. He has been struggling with Cards in both Run and Pass blocking according to PFF. I worried about letting him go and committing to Easton. Easton seems to be the weak link in the line right now.

Yep although Boone has graded out better although that's in like have as much playing time. The thing about Easton is he is a young player so there is probably some legit hope he can get better. Boone being bad I suppose you would have legit hope for him to get to average or just below that. :) if Easton was actually really bad I would bet they could insert Sirles and he would be better but they must like some of what Easton is doing plus Sirles is really versatile to have active on game day.

Souhan thinks the NFL should let team's have their entire 53 active on game day. I agree it doesn't make much sense to not do that. It would help player safety and possibly improve the product as you wouldn't have to worry about some guy playing basically on one leg because he is the healthiest guy out there etc.

I agree with the 53 man active roster. It just seems odd to have a practice squad and then not be able to dress all 53. In the end you are correct. It would help put a better product on the field.

Good to here they figured it out. Glad he can live a normal life. My GF sat next to his dad on a flight and his dad was very proud of his kid and he had high hopes of him coming back.

The Vikings aren't a perfect organization but it seems like the last few years (I haven't always paid attention to such things) they have been pretty good about giving guys some money when they are injured that they wouldn't have to.
