Here's a possible three-way deal involving DLO. My main purpose behind this deal would be positioning the Wolves to draft Dyson Daniels. I've become completely infatuated with him as our PG of the future. It's a 3-way deal with the Hornets and Wizards:
Wizards Get: DLO + pick #13 (Hornets) + pick #48 (Wolves)
Hornets Get: Porzingis + pick #50
Wolves Get: Hayward + pick #10 (Wizards)
Why would the Hornets do this deal? They'd be getting the best player of the three being exchanged. And Porzingis would be a great fit for the Hornets. I suspect they would relish the chance to add an all-star caliber big guy to play with LaMello Ball at PG and Miles Turner at the wing. He's significantly younger than Hayward who has had lots of injury issues. They'd be giving up the #13 pick, but they'd still have the #15 pick.
Why would the Wizards do this deal? They'd be getting the second-best player in this exchange in DLO. And they'd be filling their top priority need - the PG position. They need to fill that spot with a ready-made player to try and win now while Beal is still there. They'd be giving up the #10 pick, but they'd get the Hornets' #13 pick, so they really don't lose much in the draft either.
Why should the Wolves consider this? As I mentioned above, my main purpose would be the chance to draft Dyson Daniels. Moreover, if Hayward is healthy, he'd be an excellent win-now fit at the SF position with Edwards moving to he SG spot. The Wolves would have options at the PG position. They could start Beverley at that spot and rely more on JMac. But they could also use one of their salary cap exceptions to sign a free agent PG. Some possible options include Tyus Jones, Dennis Schroder, Delon Wright, Trey Burke, Aaron Holiday, Austin Rivers and Rajon Rondo. Some or all of the MLE might be needed to sign some of these guys, but others would likely be gettable for the BAE.
Would I actually pull the trigger on this deal if available? Honestly, I'm not sure. DLO was a key to the Wolves winning 46 games last season. If Hayward continued to struggle staying on the court physically next season, the deal would be a definite step back for the Wolves in the near term. But if he stayed healthy and we were able to sign Tyus or even Schroder, then I think we'd hold our ground in the near term as Dyson Daniels develops into the all-star caliber PG I think he'll be in a couple years. I think we could add a big at #19 where Mark Williams, Christian Koloko or Liddell would likely be available. And we'd still have the BAE to sign a big like Drummond or the opportunity to trade Beasley and Naz for a big like Turner, Holmes or Bamba.

Re: Possible Wolves Draft Day Trades
I think the Wizards just take Daniels for themselves at 10, and if he doesn't go there, I can't see any way he falls below the Knicks at 11.
Also, wouldn't the Hornets rather draft Mark Williams and max out Miles Bridges instead of paying max money to both Porzingis and Bridges? That's a really expensive team that hasn't won anything yet and might not even fit well together, and for that they drop down 37 spots?
Both Washington and Charlotte are in position to draft guys they'd really want and need. D'Lo unfortunately doesn't become valuable until he is a) free agent where he'd be able to sign for less and b) no longer a starter.
The Wolves don't have move up ammo unless they're trading KAT.
The idea of drafting D'Lo's replacement is sound, however. I just think at 19, we're looking at Jean Montero, Terquavion Smith, Ryan Rollins.

There's no comparison between Mark Williams, a college player projected to be drafted in the teens and a Porzingis - a young vet of multiple NBA seasons who has averaged 19 points, 2 blocks and 8 rebounds while shooting 35% from behind the arc in his career - averaging over 20 points in each of his last five seasons. And he's still only 26 years old, likely just entering the prime of his career. No sane GM would prefer Mark Williams over Porzingis at any price. Moreover, Miles Turner isn't going to get a max offer from any team and the Hornets control his rights next season with a qualifying offer. Bottom line for the Hornets is that they'd be swapping one $30M player (Hayward) for a much better and far younger $30M player in Porzingis. And in my scenario, they'd still have the #15 pick in this year's draft. As I see it, the deal is a no-brainer for the Hornets.
I'm less certain about whether the Wizards would go for my hypothetical deal. But one thing for sure, their front office has to be smart enough to know that it's HIGHLY unlikely they'd get a college player at #10 who would be remotely as good as DLO. It's important to keep in mind that the Wizards are trying to win now before Beal loses patience and forces his way out. And the Wizards desperately need a quality PG. I know there are a number of DLO detractors around here. I'll admit that I've never been a DLO fan and I didn't like the trade that brought him here. But he was a really good PG this past season for the Wolves and a key to the Wolves making their first playoff appearance since Butler left. Every DLO trade I've run through the ESPN Trade Machine results in a substantial net loss in Wolves wins. I won't vouch for the methodology used to produce those figures, but it is consistent with the impact DLO had on the Wolves winning this past season. He'd be a huge upgrade for a Wizards team that barely missed the playoffs. DLO has substantial value as a very good 26 year old PG. His expiring contract adds to that value. The deal doesn't cause any payroll problems for the Wizards because of the salary match built into my hypothetical deal. And under my hypothetical, the Wizards would simply move down from the #10 pick to the #13, so they'd still have a shot at lottery talent.
I tend to ascribe more value to draft picks than many on this Board and elsewhere. However, even I know that the Wolves wouldn't have to trade KAT or Edwards to move up in this year's draft. IAs I see it, the biggest doubt about my hypothetical is whether it makes sense for the Wolves. I'm probably overvaluing Dyson Daniels or whoever else we might get at #10.

The way things ended with DLO riding the bench to close out the series it wouldn't shock me at all if he was moved close to the draft.
Have the Nets soured on B. Simmons?
Is Simmons too risky injury wise?
Is Simmons the type to have a chip on his shoulder and prove something or be a perennial diva?
My Draft Day Trade targets to make a call on.
D. Fox
Dame
Siakam
Simmons
J. Grant
W. Carter Jr.
Bamba
How many future assets will LAL give up if we swap D-Lo for Westbrook?
Westbrook & Pat Bev on the same team    :furious:

This is where you're absolutely wrong. Porzingis was traded by Dallas for Davis Bertans and Spencer Dinwiddie, two guys who washed out in Washington. Dallas in essence chose two bad contracts to break up one huge bad contract. Have you seen Porzingis since he got traded to Dallas? There's a reason why Dallas felt they could dump him and get better without him - and they did. If you think Gordon Hayward is an injury risk, Kristaps Porzingis hasn't played more than 57 games in any season since his 2nd year in the league. He's a toxic contract. If Sachin Gupta had a choice between Mark Williams at a rookie salary and Kristaps Porzingis now and he chose Porzingis now, you'd be apoplectic.
and you're confusing Myles Turner with Miles Bridges fresh off a 20/7/4 season. He's gonna cash out this summer.

Well said Wild. There is plenty of context for Porziingis as a player that goes well beyond he's a 26 yr old all star. Agree with everything you said regarding this fantasy trade.
Re: Possible Wolves Draft Day Trades
If Lip could pull off this deal screw hiring Connelly let him have the gig. It's an interesting multi team deal but I don't see any way the Hornets say yes to that.
I think an easy draft day deal could involve Naz Reid. The reality is that if the Wolves actually hire Connelly almost anything could happen because even if he isn't looking to make any big moves he likely won't be as tied to certain players as maybe others in the Wolves organization are now. Seriously if he gets the gig I may as well just sit back and see what happens and have a lot of confidence in doing so. Hiring Connelly would really free up some time for me. Come on Glen look into his eyes.

Monster - Connelly's out and I'm in. Don't worry, I'm going to get the deal done. I don't care what Wild and Duke think. They're wrong and I'm right. :). I have photos of MJ that I think will motivate him to want Porzingis. I'll leave it at that.
Regarding Naz Reid, I agree he's a valuable trade chip. My question to you is whether he can be traded on draft day. According to ESPN, he can't be traded until June 29. You seem pretty savvy about CBA issues. What do you know about this?

Maybe it's because his option hasn't been exercised yet so maybe then the trade machine considers he is on his last year and therefore can't be dealt? Idk but I think he can be dealt I'll look into it more later and read Larry Coon's CBA FAQ or maybe Gupta needs to call someone and get that thing fixed! Lol
Edit: You sent me down a rabbit hole...if you don't hear from me by tomorrow send help!!!
Ok so...hopefully I got this stuff right.
So to trade either Naz or Nowell before the end of the league year it looks like the a wolves wound have to either decline or exercise the option they have because it's the last year of their deal. Obviously for either player it would be opting in for a trade. Oddly it sounds like for guys in their situation you could decline their option and still deal them. Once that option is exercised no team can do an extension. Nowell and Naz can be extended this summer if either side could come to an agreement. I personally don't think it makes sense for either side to do it and it might benefit both sides to wait as cap holds for both guys next offseason would've small and then both sides could basically work out a market deal...or either side walk away.
Fun other stuff. Al Horford has various triggers in his contract for how much he is guaranteed of his 26 million in salary next season. Right now 14.5 million is guaranteed. If Boston makes the finals 19.5 guaranteed and if they win the championship it's fully guaranteed. Nobody will be complaining about paying him all that money next year if that happens. I thought they may have had a hard time declining it anyway or declining the option and still signing him for a few million. Basically would they have been willing to pay Horford around 11.5 million more than if they just let him go? My answer right now is it would have probably been a bit of a no brainer to keep him.
Also apparently in trades only what money is guaranteed for the season is included in the trade. So guys like a Juancho who has non-guaranteed money this year or next year Beasley have much less value to trade than I thought. This makes me a little more interested in dealing Beasley earlier than I was previously. I'm not sure if maybe Juancho can have his option declined and still be dealt before the end of the league year or not. This stuff gets complicated. Lol
Oh and something to file away if a player has a no trade clause from signing a 1 year deal or 2 year deal with one of the options (I think it was a player option) then if they waive that trade clause then any Bird rights they have with their current team do not go with the next team. I remember this being a consideration for Bazz at one point but...unfortunately for him it didn't matter. I see he played a couple G-league games this year...it doesn't look like it went well. It has went much better for him in China in the past and this season for some other league for 4 games this year it looks like he was playing against 8th graders or something. He averaged 18 rebounds a game!!!! We need Bazz at PF!!! Just kidding Abe it's gonna be ok.

Naz set to make 1,930,681 next year in final year of deal if not waved by July 20th right?
