In case you needed to be reminded
Budinger and Bennett are not very good this season.

I don't know. If you read the whole article, it sort of articulates how I feel. Yeah, Bennett has been a disappointing. But he's still too young and has shown just enough flashes that makes you not want to completely give up on him (yet). Now that Rubio is back, hopefully he'll come back to life. If not - it's just another example of a lotto pick who never panned out.
Here's some food for thought...Bennett would be what - a Junior in college right now? I wonder where he'd rank on this year's draft board had he stayed in college for two more years?

With apologies to Cam, don't you have to include Thaddeus in this discussion? He's been better recently but my Gawd has he been awful most of the year.

Exactly, you don't just throw out young talent like that. Gotta give them 2-3 years. This is Bennett's first year with the team too. After next season if we've seen nothing then I'd be ready to cut him loose.

Bennetts's problem isn't talent. He has a little bit of DWill in him. Just not able to expend the energy consistently enough to be a plus player. And like DWill, he doesn't think the game very well. I'm not sure how much better he can get at those two things.

I agree and DWill is probably a good comparison up to this point. They tease, but never perform consistently like you wrote. Funny how DWill will be averaging 5 points a game until he plays us - then he goes for like 20. Grrr. What a waste. I just can't bring myself to completely give up on Bennett yet...but the evidence is mounting to indicate he may not work out.

I agree with the Dwill part Cool, but his BBIQ looks to be pretty decent. He seems to be the only big that understands how to guard the PnR effectively. The breakdown usually comes behind him when nobody covers for his man rolling to the basket. Having Mo on the floor makes it almost impossible for any of the bigs because he stops playing D as soon as a pick is set regardless of whether it obstructed him or not. I would like to see them try and run some offense through Bennett in the low post. They never seem to get him the ball when he posts up.
For the life of me I can't understand why all of our bigs are so horrible at blocking out. Thad doesn't even make an effort on most plays, while Bennett and Gorgui usually get tossed aside. Pek isn't much better, but at least is able to hold position. Majority of the time, they don't even locate their opponent, which usually results in the player walking right down to the front of the rim. Where the hell is the coaching when this is happening?

SJM, I've seen some of those hard hedges you refer to in Bennett's defense, but that's just one aspect of defending. He overall is a disaster on both ends of the court, as the numbers prove out. And as far as posting up, are you kidding me? I've seen them post him up multiple times and it results in a contested fade-away jumper that he misses badly most of the time. It's clearly not his game.
That being said, I agree with the guy that wrote the article and others here. I think we need to keep him around for another year before completely giving up on him. But by no means should he impede our plans to beef up the PF spot if the opportunity arises (either through the draft, trade, or signing Bjelica).

Re: In case you needed to be reminded
I was among the biggest Derrick Williams detractors. But, he did just enough to keep people around on his side for quite some time.
He had a 27 point game. 28 point game. In fact, about a dozen or so games with 20+ points early in his career. I haven't seen even that level of moderate success from Bennett yet. Is it all because of a lack of run?
And if so... is that telling in and of itself when we're talking about a team THIS bad?
