Lorenzo Brown to the rescue!

Post by 60WinTim »

I guess we are looking at picking him up out of the D-League. I remember the name -- we drafted him back in 2013. But I can't for the life of me remember anything about him. Did he play in our summer league?

He seems like an interesting prospect that now has a bit of experience under his belt (got some time with the 76ers last year).

And the best news? It sure seems like we've seen the last of Radwhatever!

Good news that Rad is out of here, but kinda wonder if this is a little bad news as well. Is this any indication regarding Rubios return?

One can only hope this is a sign that Rad & Bud are on their way out and they want to sure up the PG position both now and when Rubio returns soon.

Out: Rad/bud
In: Adrien/Brown

TheGrey @TheGrey08
@DarrenWolfson @ESPNSteinLine Would this signing mean anything about Rubio's return?

@TheGrey08 Mo Williams hurt too. Maybe out tomorrow. So needed a PG badly just to compete. Who knows on Ricky. He's not playing this week.

I didn't realize Mo was hurting. Guess it's not just him being tired.

Bud isn't going anywhere. Having a player option for next year and showing little value on the court, there is nobody that will trade for him and the Wolves will not waive or buy him out.

We are stuck with a 5 mil end-of-the-bench player for the remainder of this year and next year.

I will not be surprised at all if we trade Mo Williams to a playoff team that needs help at PG, and picking up Brown takes us one step closer to making that happen.

Flip said in his Britt Robson interview that Rubio should be back within 2 weeks.

I was really hoping we'd get to see a full lineup by the Cavs game, but it doesn't look like that's going to happen. :(

Brown certainly isn't a game-changer...he was a poor shooter at NC State and in his brief moment in the pros. But he is something that the Wolves don't currently have...a pass-first PG whose value is in distributing the basketball. Hopefully he will create some easier baskets for Thad, Wig and Pek, because currently they are all forced to create their own shots with Mo and Zach running the point. Also, once Mo is healthy, having Brown will allow Zach to get some minutes where he belongs at SG. We won't need Brown when Rubio returns, but that still may be a couple weeks away. I think it's a good signing.

Glad to see Flip finally taking care of this problem. LST, I suspect that Rubio's return and the strong prospect of Mo being traded, we'll see Brown play the rest of the season.

I would have preferred Scotty Wilbieken instead of Brown, but not sure if Scotty has been playing anywhere since last season at Florida.

Right idea, we'll see if it's the right player though. He seems to have improved his shooting and scoring a bit since he first came out of college. He gets his fair share of steals and rebounds too. But his assist/TO ratio is horrible this year - not something you want when we are trying to get a steadier hand than Zach to backup Mo and Rubio. I guess options are limited (but we could have had Wolters!!!).

With Pek back, the desperate need for a big other than Dieng is no longer there which was blocking this move. Hopefully his lack of shooting finally gives us a PG who's going to drive all the way to the basket and not settle for jumpers. If I remember from summer league he's got good size for a PG and plays decent defense. I don't know if he has the quickness for this level of competition but we'll see. Just having a PG go all the way to the basket to make the defense collapse would do so much to open up our offense. Ricky does it without even looking to score because that is when his most effective passing lanes open up and if they aren't there he just dribbles it out to run another play.
