Robson on Dieng
The always readable Britt Robson talks about our MVP so far this season. As I read this article, I thought about Lipoli's positive comments last year about Gorgui's character after hearing him speak at a season ticket holder's event...that character comes through in Robson's article too.

Awesome article. I love Gorgui Dieng, even though I still question his ability to anchor the paint with his inability to hold ground. But it's certainly through no lack of effort on his part.
What pisses me off to no end is that Flip had a chance to keep the one guy we had that could go to battle in the foxhole and help Gorgui with the interior dirty work, that being Jeff Adrien. Now we have Raduljica, who isn't a PF and looks half asleep most of the time. Ugh.

Yeah, Rad can go. At least he's only on a 10 day contract...
Do now we can flip Young for Perkins. Perkins can bring some of his nastiness to us, and I wouldn't mind seeing him suffer in the hell hole we have going on around here!!! ;-)

Heh, Perk seems grumpy enough as it is. I would hate to see how he's like with our downtrodden franchise.
Seriously, I would certainly hope we could trade Young for more than just an expiring deal. The guy has a very strong body of work with the Sixers and it's clear that things just haven't worked out here. While I'm not sure we can get an expiring and mid first rounder, I would certainly hope we can get something. I think there is a good chance he opts out anyway, so hopefully Flip stays strong here and doesn't sell low.

I'd rather keep Young than watch Perkins play here. I've always hated that fake tough guy. Remember when he slapped Rubio in the head a couple years ago?

Re: Robson on Dieng
I like that he brought up Dieng's offense. I think that has truly been underutilized this year. He has the best shooting percentage on the team yet takes so few shots it seems. Our offense is so perimeter oriented that we really should just incorporate a few Dieng post ups to lessen the amount of jump shots we take. Dieng takes 7 shots a game. That number should be 12+ on most nights. He is also one of our better facilitators right now with Ricky out (4th in APG behind Mo, Zach and Thad). We should be able to post him up and let him hit cutters when they get open or make a move himself. Getting low post touches is important because it keeps guys back to defend the transition opportunities that would come off any misses unlike when we stick guys in the corner and the guard or Thad drive and there is 0-1 guys available to get back in transition. He's been really efficient overall this year and I wish they would make him a little bit more of a focal point in the offense because he has played well with the limited opportunities he gets. I get that he isn't the strongest so he might get pushed out of position, but until he starts losing his efficiency he really should be seeing an increased offensive role so he can continue to develop his offensive game. It is nice that he is a rim protector, but if he could become a 15+ PPG scorer on 12+ shots that would be huge for his long-term potential as a starting C.

Good post, Khans. Although his offensive stats are not gaudy, Gorgui has shown me much more offense than I ever would have expected watching him at Louisville. I'm surprised when his Duncan-like 12-foot bank shot doesn't go in (he has to be at about 80% on it) and his footwork around the basket is improving also...he continues to improve his post game. And his passing is also a big surprise to me, although others tell me he was actually an adept passer in college. I'd also like to see him with 50% more shots per game, and I expect him to see the ball much more once Ricky returns to 35 minutes a game.
