Nope. I respect his game (good defender, passer, rebounder, improved shooter, etc.) and his heart/effort on the court, but I believe he won't be as good as he is currently on a different team. That's not a knock on the guy, though, because I really do like watching him play. I'd also like to get some legit size in the frontcourt for once, and size he does not have.

While he is technically undersized, he is probably the best passing PF in the league (and it might not be close). Did you see him the other night get a rebound, push in transition, and dish out an on-point lob from half court? His future success will depend on if his future team (or GSW) can play small ball, but his talent level will get him the max next year no doubt.

Agree with Cam on this one. He is going to get overpaid and we can't take a chance on a guy like that. We need to draft our own Draymond Green

Oh I misread that a bit.....definitely not a fit for Minny but on the right team he is definitely a max player. Let's save our salary for a guy like Jimmy Butler (one can dream, right?)

I'm all aboard the Jimmy Butler train. With the Bulls being notoriously cheap when it comes to the tax there is a chance. It is just a matter of whether they are smart enough to dip into the tax for 1 season knowing how big the cap jumps after next season. A Rubio/Butler/Wiggins trio wouldn't have to worry too much about the bigs behind them defensively. Maybe they even take Martin off our hands as a consolation prize to be able to say they didn't just let Butler walk.

Don't like our chances with Butler, I wish but there will be multiple teams that will offer the max to Butler, and I am not sure if Butler will pick the Wolves over those teams, and also the Bulls can match, we will see if they will or not

That's why I brought up the notoriously cheap part. They treat the luxury tax line like the plague, so they would go against their normal salary cap strategy if they kept him at the max. The other part is who has the pieces they would take back in a sign and trade to get Butler that 5th year. Martin to me is a piece they could take on as a great value to replace all of Butler's offensive production. If they can get Martin and Butler gets a 5th year at max money, I think he takes that over a 4 year max deal elsewhere and they would rather get something rather than nothing. It all depends on what the Bulls are willing to do. Based on past actions, I would lean towards them doing a sign and trade so it comes down to who can beat us from a valuable asset perspective. Martin doesn't trump all, but he trumps anything the Knicks or Lakers, etc. could give up.

Are we assuming no one would give up a high first rounder? I have to think that there would be a large number of teams willing to deal a high 1st for a 25 year old lockdown defender that is averaging a very efficient 21 ppg. The question I would ask, is would you be willing to make that deal. If on the table....re-signed Butler for our #1-#3 pick....I probably say yes. That is assuming he finishes the year at nearly the same pace. While "upside" is always fun and nice, isn't a guy like Butler exactly what we are praying for when getting a #1 like Wiggins? I would take the surefire star over the potential guy that may or may not become a star.
What I would say is that there is simply NO WAY a guy like Martin will net you Jimmy Butler. Man, if you could pull of a deal like this for Butler, then sign Paul Millsap....I would have some hope for 2016!

Just out of curiosity what would we have to add to Okafor and Martin to net Butler and Taj?
