Greatest Minnesota Basketball GM Died Today

Post by kekgeek »

R.I.P Sid!!!

Brought 5 titles to Minnesota. Pretend to get lost in Minnesota driving around Mikan until he signed on the doted line.

Had a trade set up to acquire a rookie center. The owners vetoed the trade. That rookie was Bill Russell. So Sid quit. Why does ownership always get involved (via Keith Olbermann).

What a legend.

Auerbach denied the potential Russell trade was ever an option. Obviously, both men had their reasons for sticking to their side of the story.

Even ESPN had a headline on his death. He certainly loved what he did and I suspect that's what kept him going for so long.
