Just saw that Jonathan Isaac tore his ACL today. That will speculation about the Wolves trading for him. I feel bad for the kid. He was really starting to come into his own. And he took a lot of unfair heat, in my view, for his decision not to kneel or where a black lives matter t-shirt.

I've been a little out of the loop... but I gotta say it seems like Colin Kaepernick got a lot more heat for kneeling than Jonathon Isaac for not kneeling.

Ugh...that is too bad. He would have been PERFECT on our squad, but I don't think they were going to trade him anyway. Aaron Gordon was the guy I think they were willing to part with and I have mixed feelings about him.

Agreed. But hypocrisy and irony is everywhere... and almost entirely ignored... when things get politicized.

I assumed this thread would be about Isaac's stance...not another injury. That's really too bad he got hurt. Will he ever be able to stay healthy? He talked about how the break had him healthy to come back and play and...then he tears his knee up.

I spent time watching/listening to the time Isaac spent (About 12 mins) with the media after the game and scrolling through social media to get a sense of what people were saying. I did not find the type of outrage against him that quite frankly I expected. The most negative comments I saw were more snarky about whether or not God even exists. Some people said he shouldn't have had to answer those questions about standing. I get the idea behind that but if you are going to stand for something like that and you know it's going to be seen and different you should be willing to share why especially now. This is exactly why protests have power. He got to share his faith and his perspective. That can be powerful. If something like that matters to you wouldn't you want to say why you did what you did? I thought all the questions were ones people will be asking everywhere on social media etc so they were absolutely fair to ask. He answered them and didn't shy away from anything. Ultimately my take away was that he stood because he felt like Jesus and the gospel acted out is the answer. I respect that I may or may not completely agree with him but as Isaac himself said and others have pointed out his actions show he is a guy invested in doing good And making some sort of difference. He won the community award and is known around the community to be a guy invested In the community etc. He is doing work he isn't one of these guys that just says stuff but doesn't actually do anything which regardless of side or perspective on a variety of topics...happens a lot.

It seems like just yesterday standing for the national anthem wasn't controversial. It was an act of patriotism and more routine than not. Fast forward to right now and somehow it's seen as the odd or unpopular thing to do where reporters are asking why a person did such a thing.

Patriotism is a crock. I was coerced during my indoctrination process to pledge allegiance to a silly flag a few thousand times. Got to get them when they are young and malleable.
