Last Dance
Re: Last Dance
I think it has been fantastic. Shows why MJ was so freaking great. Do you think they do a whole chapter how the young Wolves beat the Bulls in their heyday. hahaha
Re: Last Dance
I've watched the first four episodes and I'm looking forward to watching the next two tomorrow night. It's a great series and I highly recommend watching it to those who haven't. I like that they don't focus exclusively on that one last season, but look back with interviews and videos at the Bulls prior seasons including MJ's rookie year.
Two things stand out.
First, as you said kekgeed, the series shows why MJ was so freaking great. It's his competitive fire, but it's also his incredible physical talent. There has been so much talk over the years about MJ's competitiveness that I think we've lost touch a bit with just how much of a physical freak he was. Not only could he leap out of the gym; he was incredibly quick and had a great handle that allowed him to blow by defenders in the half court. And his defense was smothering.
Another thing that stands out is Scottie Pippen's greatness. He wasn't just MJ's sidekick. He was another physical freak who was elite on both ends. He was one of the most complete players to every play, excelling as a scorer, passer, rebounder and defender.
Watching the series has also reminded me of how physical the game was back then. It's fun to imagine how many points Michael would have scored in today's game with the floor spread and far less physical defense.

You nailed this post Lip IMO. I hope to watch these episodes one of these days. They sound fantastic.

Re: Last Dance
I'm digging the series, too... and I was NOT a Jordan fan back in the 80s and 90s.
Being a fan of the Celtics, Pistons and Jazz at various points might be a big reason why.
Anyway, it's pretty solid... and probably good timing. It's interesting (and probably predictable) how there's such a drastic divide in the Jordan vs. James GOAT debate... with the age of 35 sort of being the demarcation point.
It's why I think it's fun for the younger generation to see it.

Loved the end. Jordan wanted one more, Reinsdorf made no sense whatsoever. Reminded me of Glen. Insane.
Re: Last Dance
I'm watching episode 1 again tonight. My favorite line from that episode was his NC teammate James Worthy saying, "I was better than him (MJ) - for about 2 weeks."

Speaking of 90s documentaries. The Shaq-Penny 30 for 30 was good too. That draft was rigged. Magic had very low odds but they get 1st pick after Shaq says he needs a guard. But then they take Weber and flip him for Penny. How convenient.
