All the opinions shared here

Post by Porckchop »

Are so valuable. I appreciate each and every one of you folks input and knowledge of the game. This board wouldn't be the same if we all patted each other on the back and shared the same thoughts on what's best for our beloved Wolves. With opposing opinions comes a lot of valuable information.
What an exciting season to be watching, the expectations are high and not seen since 04. It's understandable that we all are a bit cynical about the outcome of this season and the direction of this team in the future. But I hate too see this board developing Twitter type aggression when we all want the same thing. I depend on all you guys to provide me with all your basketball knowledge. So I hate it when we lose valuable contributors because things get to toxic.
This board should strive to be a place that's a needed escape from the divisiveness we see everywhere else. I appreciate and respect all you guys and don't wanna lose ya. LST was a big loss to this board. We don't need any others. God bless!

Well said Pork. We are fans, we should be enjoying the season with some fun disagreements at times.

Personally, I don't think this board has ever been better than recently. Plenty of good contributions and varied opinions. As far as attacks and chasing people away - has anything really changed? Posting on a message board is like hitting the showers in prison....you do so at your own risk and every man for himself. We all know full well that not everyone is going to agree with what we write.

To me, the only time this board gets off track is when one person digs in so deep and posts so frequently that it starts to become a personal blog or worse, SPAM. Maybe we need a one week DLO moratorium. No posting about DLO good or bad for one week to give everyone a break.

Heh, brilliant Tim!

As an ardent Rubio defender in those days, I have to say that Pork never made things personal, so while I appreciate you holding up the mirror to him in this case, I think he'll be happy with what he sees. He generally follows his own advice!

Good stuff Carlos.

The thing about this board is that we literally have zero moderators or any known way to moderate, so it is absolute in terms of freedom of speech. It's actually amazing how civil it's been overall considering that fact.

I hope folks like Cam and Jester and any others that got frustrated take a needed pause and eventually come back. All of their contributions are valuable.

Good post, Anthony, and a hat tip for the prison comment.

I agree that the board has never been better than it is right now. I suspect most if not all of us have buddies we talk sports with, but I don't get the same level of insight and passion from my buddies that I get here...much appreciated.

I disagree about the need for a DLo moratorium though. I submit that how well he plays within finchie's vision is one of the most important variables in whether we win 55 games or 45. I have some very strong views on the type of DLo we need and I think others do too...some different from mine. It's constructive when we air it all out.

What's not constructive is when a member takes a different view as an indictment of his character...it's kind of weird to tell the truth. I think some here could benefit from a thicker skin. Pork teed up this thread, and is a good role model for thick skin . He expresses strong opinions, but isn't butthurt when someone takes a different stance. That's what message boards should be all about!

I agree, I think this board is great. I don't know exactly what people are referring to lately, but if Camden or someone else left because of anything I said, that's too bad (not apologizing, but that's too bad)... I think anyone who leaves a board because their feelings got hurt is kind of a snowflake, but I also get wanting to escape the negativity. I hope everyone comes back. It's a sports boards... I don't think there's anything wrong with my usually pessimistic takes. Also, I haven't seen anything on here that needs "moderating"

I also don't see any need for a Dlo moratorium. I think I'm actually pretty objective on the guy to be honest. I don't think he's been bad to start the season. I still don't think he's been great or near a max player, but I think he's been pretty decent.

D- it's funny, you're usually a bigger Russell detractor than me, but I don't agree that he's been pretty decent this year. I need much more from him. He has a negative net rating on basketball reference and the worst on/off stats on the team on cleaning the glass. THE WORST. Many have observed that the pace of play changes dramatically when DLo is subbed out, and the offense runs much better. His occasional Ill advised shots often lead to fast breaks the other way. And when you attend games in person (I've been to 4), you see him pointing to his teammates about where they should be while losing track of his own man. His analytic numbers unfortunately match my eye test. He is supremely talented, but he's not helping this team if he doesn't play the way finchie wants him to play. We need more from him.

Sorry Carlos- we've fallen into Russell land again. But with ball movement and perimeter defense the issues finchie continues to harp on, I would argue there's no more important topic right now.
