Harrell's comments directed at Luka
Harrell's comments directed at Luka
Total BS. I can't help but wonder if the league hates the idea of a white player becoming it's best player. Remember the animosity towards Bird in the 80's?
Espn barely makes reference to it at this point. Can you imagine the outrage if it was flipped?

I can't remember the hate toward Bird and some could argue that it went both ways, as he was often depicted as a "white savior". But your second point I agree with.
I personally don't think what he said is that big of a deal, but the point is that the league needs to be consistent. If they are going to put race front and center, then it needs to work both ways. Any little slight or emotional rant that could be considered even remotely offensive based on race must be immediately condemned, with consequences for the player(s) involved.

I think the talk player to player on the court should be left on the court. I know the NBA has gotten involved in the past with suspensions and the like and that was wrong in my opinion. Other than supporting an apology from Harrell to Luka, I dont think the league or anyone should be too involved in what is said during the heat of competition on the court. If it was into a microphone after the game, sure suspend the hell out of him. But let the players play their game like adults, including all of the passion, trash talking, and insults that come with competing with other adults at a high level.

I agree. But does anyone think in their right mind that had it been the other way around that the league along with the media wouldn't come down like a hailstorm on Luka? That's the point. If the NBA is going to go all in on anti-racism and social justice, then they can't pick and choose.
This reminds me a little bit of their hypocrisy on China. Sure, it's OK to bring up and protest all sorts of faults with the U.S., but suddenly all of these supposedly courageous social justice warriors go silent and put their tail between their legs when it comes to a far more oppressive regime.
Just be consistent.

The world has lost consistency.
People here can bag on me all they want, but somehow being white and having an opinion is bad. We're in for a lot of change soon.

Amen. It's all about orange man bad, and not saying or doing anything that could possibly hurt you in November. Being critical of China means in some way you are supporting Trump. And the left isn't going to do anything to validate anything Trump has done. Admittedly I'm a little to the right of center, but politics on both sides have ignored what's good for the people, and focused solely on political gain and power. Never thought I would see it in this country, but the citizens are the big losers in this political climate.

That Luka guy just beat the Clippers super team in OT today without Porzingis. Only 2 other guys have ever had a 40 point triple double in the playoffs.

Why didn't we trade up for him again? Oh it was "impossible". Excuses and excuses for the degenerate POB ogre.
