GDT: Minnesota vs. Utah

Post by Camden [enjin:6601484] »

Can the Timberwolves close out the month of January with a win? Can the Timberwolves avoid the series sweep tonight against the Jazz? I think so. Actually, so do the oddsmakers as Minnesota's currently favored by 2.5 points at home. That line is essentially a result of Donovan Mitchell and Rudy Gobert being ruled OUT of this game. Utah relies on those two as much or more than any other team relies on their two best players. The Jazz have also lost four games in a row -- hopefully five when the final horn sounds.

D'Angelo Russell and Patrick Beverley are listed as questionable for tonight's game. While the Wolves desperately need at least one of them back soon, and preferably both, I think they can and should win this game even without them. Karl-Anthony Towns and Anthony Edwards are still available and playing some good basketball as of late. We'll need them to continue that trend and get the Wolves back to .500 yet again before facing the Nuggets on Tuesday.

Update: Dane Moore says that Russell, Beverley, and Josh Okogie are OUT for Minnesota. That does make this game tougher, but still very winnable for the Wolves, in my opinion. Need it.

You can't lose to a team missing its two best players at home...gotta win this one. I don't like both of our PGs being out again, but Nowell was so ineffective last game at the point and on D, I want Finchy to play Ant at the point for 36 with JMac getting the other 12, even though Ant doesn't want to play PG. Jaden on Conley and Vando on Bojan. I don't think Vando is healthy enough to guard Conley...I prefer him on the slower Bojan.

Loving Jaden's off ball movement on offense lately. He's like a gazelle out there. Also Jaylen mid range game is money.

It hasn't been pretty, but Minnesota leads by six early into the second. Couldn't make shots to start the game. They're turning it around, though.

Can't afford for Jaden to get into foul trouble tonight. He needs to be smart.

Reckless speculation, but I think Joe Ingles just tore his ACL. Yikes.
