Hanny Passes Away

Post by Coolbreeze44 »

Tom Hanneman died in his sleep overnight. Prayers for his family and loved ones. He will be missed.

That's a tough one right before the NBA and NHL seasons are getting ready to kickoff. Gonna be weird not seeing him on the FSN coverage team. 2020 strikes again.

Very sad news indeed. Just thinking about him brings a smile to my face. Great guy.

Sad day in Minnesota losing two icons- the beloved Hanny, and Minnesota's first lady of song Debbie Duncan. Condolences to their families and those who were entertained by them for decades.

Yup, sad day.

The Wolves pregame show thus far has been called "Wolves+" and has been led by Marni Gellner, and did not include Hanny, Jim Pete or Dave Benz. I wonder if that is how the show will continue into the regular season?

I met Tom Hanneman once. It was the early 90's, and another Tom Hanneman was running for Minnesota House or Senate out of St. Paul. I asked him how the race was going and if he liked his chances. He said it was another Tom Hanneman, but people were so encouraging that he was considering running in the future.

Here is the thing that always struck me about Tom Hanneman: As some of you know, when you have LeaguePass, sometimes when the game cuts to commercial, you stay with them instead of seeing the commercial, and you get to hear them talk amongst themselves. Well, Tom definitely had an idea of how a broadcast should go and wasn't shy about sharing, and yet was professional about it (unlike Bert). And it doesn't seem like Tom and Trent Trucker got along.

And wow, a Hanneman thread but no Grandpa Sports thread. Sid is going to haunt you all.
