Most important game of the year? Sac-town GDT

Post by longstrangetrip [enjin:6600564] »

I never I would label a game against the Sacrificial Things as the most important game of the year, but it just might be. Some of you have said this is a game we have to win, and I agree. Both teams have won 2 in a row, and I think the Wolves can demonstrate they indeed have turned the corner with a strong showing here.

The Wolves may be catching yet another injury break, as both Gay and Casspi may be out tonight. Ha, does board favorite Matt Barnes play all 48 at SF...who else do they have? But all that said, we know that the Kings are all about Cousins. Thibs will ask Gorgui to defend him, and that's a tough matchup for G. He's not going to stop Cousins, but if he slows him a little I think the wolves win this one.

A win tonight I think at least gets this board back invested fully. Just win

Key to tonight's game? Goad Cousins into two technicals or a flagrant 2. That assignment should go to Cole Aldrich.

While that would be nice, the more realistic strategy is to goad him to shoot the ball from outside. He can easily man-handle any of our bigs inside - probably including Aldrich - so we want him jacking up jumpers. He's not a bad shooter, but I'd much rather him taking 20-footers than killing us in the paint.

And for Cousins defensively, Towns (or Dieng) needs to make him work. Put a body on him on every shot, make him get physical guarding guys in the post. That's how you can get a guy like him in foul trouble. This would be a poor night for Towns to fall back into his "Kevin Durant" mode. Giving Cousins the night off with those shots.

LOVE this comment lol, I came in here planning to suggest giving Greg Sietsma a 10 day contracts just for that purpose

This should definitely be the game plan. Feed KAT early and often down low if cousins is guarding him. Make boogie work, draw a couple fouls, and watch boogie meltdown.

I like the full court press so far. It looks like Kings offense is out of sync.

I would love to see us full court pressing. I know good PGs can break that down but we should still be doing that regardless
