I would support hiring their janitor with the way they've been drafting so well over the years

As long as he doesn't anything as dumb as give Michael Porter Jr a max deal, we'll see.

Re: Tim Connley
Well, Tim Connelly is actually Denver's President of Basketball Operations, so making the move to Minnesota for the same role would be a lateral move -- one that Denver could block if they chose to do so. I'm not sure how this happens unless the Nuggets' ownership lets him walk or the Timberwolves provide some sort of compensation for the hire.
As far as basketball goes, Connelly would be a fantastic add to lead this franchise and I think he already has a working relationship with Chris Finch from prior stops in their careers. His tenure with the Nuggets speaks for itself.

Re: Tim Connley
Like Cam mentions we would likely need to send draft compensation, Jason Kidd went for two second round picks. Would you trade two or even all three of our seconds this year?
Re: Tim Connley
Wow. That's big news. It would certainly be a great hire. I don't know Connelly's contract situation in Denver. Perhaps he has an out clause to take a lateral position with another team for more compensation. If that's the case, the Wolves wouldn't have to give Denver any compensation. We have no way of knowing all the terms and stipulations in Connelly's contract. Would I give up all of our 19th pick for Connelly? Absolutely not! Would I give up one or two of our second-round picks? Maybe. But again, I'm not sure we'd have to give up anything.
Apparently, the Wolves might offer Connelly an ownership stake as part of the deal to get him here. That would be interesting. Also, there might be some issues between Connelly and ownership as evidenced by the following:
Ryan Blackburn: There's a lot to unpack with the Tim Connelly report, and as surprising as it is, there have been some signs. Notably, Calvin Booth, Denver' current general manager (under Connelly at POBO) spoke to media at Denver's post-season press conference a couple weeks ago. -via Twitter @NBABlackburn / May 18, 2022

Re: Tim Connley
I was just looking back at some old articles on Connelly. Denver extended his contract in February of 2019. He was making $2M annually before the extension and was being courted by the Wizards who were offering a 4-year deal at $4M per year. I couldn't see anything about how long the extension was. I'm assuming it was a 4-year deal at something around $4M per year to at least match the Wizards' offer, but I don't know. Maybe Connelly has a 3-year opt-out clause in his contract.
Re: Tim Connley
I just looked at the list of current NBA PBOs. I'd say that Tim Connelly is one of only 7 I'd be interested in to replace Gupta:
1. Masai Uijiri (definitely the best in my view)
2. Tim Connelly (drafted Jokic, Murray and Porter Jr. Traded for Will Barton. A number of really good moves)
3. Sam Presti (Has made some mistakes. But has good eye for talent. Gets good value in deals)
4. Dennis Lindsey (keeps small-market Jazz relevant every year. Traded for draft rights to Mitchell. Drafted Rudy G)
5. RC Buford (the Spurs have had a top front office for years under his leadership_
6. Zachary Kleiman (have to admire what he's done with the Grizzlies)
7. Donnie Nelson (traded for draft rights to Luka and drafted Brunson. Those two moves alone make him impressive).

Re: Tim Connley
I don't think the Wolves will need to give Denver any compensation to sign Connelly. According to the following excerpt from a Denver Post article pasted 28 minutes ago, Connelly is in an option year under his contract:
The Minnesota Timberwolves have emerged as a potential threat to poach Nuggets president of basketball operations Tim Connelly, league sources told The Denver Post.
The Timberwolves identified a list of four big-name GMs -- Oklahoma City's Sam Presti, Golden State's Bob Myers, Toronto's Masai Ujiri and Connelly -- to fill their vacancy, according to a person with intimate knowledge of discussions. And the Nuggets' long-time president was deemed the most "gettable," from a financial standpoint, according to another source.
Connelly, according to sources, is in an option year of his contract.
Connelly, whose tenure began in Denver in 2013 after his predecessor Ujiri left for a more lucrative offer, has built a team on the verge of title contention and has established one of the most functioning organizations in the NBA. From franchise cornerstone and back-to-back MVP Nikola Jokic to coach Michael Malone, the fifth-longest tenured coach in the league, Connelly's run has been marked by stability and success.
