Lets say Brooklyn offers Durant for KAT and Jaden. Would you do that? I don't think I would. Durant is past his prime at this point, has been missing massive games recently with injuries and he makes a boat load more then KAT even.
Not sure this trade would even work money wise, might need a throw in too... I was just thinking of hypotheticals.
Durant is still an amazing player despite his recent injuries and age, I'm just not even sure he is worth what Gobert brought trade wise.
I like our current roster. I just saw a report that Durant might be headed to Boston for Brown + assets.

I agree, I like our current roster.

Yep. We have a roster built to win. And as much as I might complain about trading away Kessler and all those future picks, the team is actually built to win sustainably over a period of at least several years if not longer. I think Edwards is going to be a perennial all-star and possibly an MVP candidate down the road. The longer term trajectory of this team gets really exciting if McDaniels and/or Minott reach what I consider to be their full potential.
Re: Durant
Durant is 4 years older and less durable than Gobert, having played only 90 games over the past three seasons. In my mind, Durant is a risk due to age and injury risk alone, never mind what you might need to give up to get him. At least with Gobert-KAT-Ant you feel like we have a solid 4-year window with that core group.

I like our potential not just this year but next and 3-4 years even. Durant might make us better initially but he's descending with injuries and age while KAT and Jaden are both ascending. KAT is still relatively young and has some room to grow for a couple years mostly mentally, but skill wise too just a bit. It's arguable the NBA prime is 28-30.
Thats why I couldn't do the trade. Our future in multiple progressive years would be compromised too much.

I agree completely.
Re: Durant
I could be wrong but I don't think Kat can be traded until his super max kicks in. So can't be traded for 2 years.
In general though I wouldn't do that trade. KD could hate MN and ask out in a year.

I'm not sure that is the NBA prime in terms of full season performance (I think that trends younger), but I do think the late 20s to early 30s is definitely the NBA prime for Playoff MVPs.
For example, Jordan won the Finals MVP in all six of the titles the Bulls won. He was age 28, 29, 30, 33, 34, and 35.
LeBron - 27, 28, 31, 35
Shaq - 28, 29, and 30
Hakeem - 31 and 32.
Dirk - 33
Iggy - 31
Pierce - 30
Durant - 28, 29
Curry - 34
There were some pretty young guys too along the way (Duncan and Kawhi's first Finals MVPs), but more often than not, the best Finals performers are guys in their late 20s and early 30s.
It reinforces the fact that we are still a YOUNG team relative to contending type teams. Ant and Jaden are absolute babies and KAT is still quite young relative to most Finals MVPs.
Re: Durant
Durant is an amazing player one of the best players of my lifetime. As Q pointed out he is a significant injury risk. I actually thought he was older than he is.
I wouldn't do the deal. Towns for Durant straight up if it was possible? I might actually consider that. The Nets are trying to get more (actually a ton more) and they already have a pretty good reported offer from Boston of Brown White and a draft pick.
