Draft Trade Value of Wolves Players
Draft Trade Value of Wolves Players
We obviously have a problematic, inadequate roster. In addition, it's likely we won't have any draft picks this year after what will likely be a bottom three finish in the standings. So I thought I'd start a thread for us to share our thoughts on the trade value of each Wolves player individually as measured by what level draft pick we could realistically get in return in a 2021 draft day deal, assuming no net upgrade from any players included for salary match purposes. Here's my take:
Beasley: 10-20 range
Edwards: 10-20 range
McDaniels: 20-30 range
Naz Reid: 25-45 range
DLO: 25-45 range. (salary match would be an overpaid near max salary player)
Culver: 35-45 range
Vanderbilt: 50-60 range
Okogie: 40-60 range
Rubio: 40-60
Layman: 45-60
Juancho: 45-60
Ed Davis: 50-60
Bolmaro: 55-60
Beasley: 10-20 range
Edwards: 10-20 range

I agree for the most part, I would probably put Edwards at a 5 to 10 range though and I think Bolmaro could certainly fetch a late first

One thing about value... and our perceptions of it.
It's interesting to see how Rubio is regarded by other fans who haven't seen him play much this season. If only one of them was running an NBA franchise right now...

I would throw a party if we were able to get a second round pick and expiring contract for Rubio

I think it's clear that Rubio is playing poorly. And I also think it's clear the dysfunction of this organization and the inexperience/crappiness of this roster isn't helping much.
Like with Wiggins... I suspect a change of scenery would make Rubio look like a different player... even if I can't imagine he'd be nearly as good as he was last season or previously. He's been pretty bad.
Re: Draft Trade Value of Wolves Players
I don't see the Wolves getting a lottery pick in 2021 or 2022 for anybody other than KAT. I think Rubio's trade value is underestimated by the original poster. Rubio is reigning World Cup MVP and had a good year with Phoenix. I think if a playoff team needs an injury replacement point guard, his value could soar to beyond that of anybody not named KAT or Edwards, which probably gets us a late first rounder. Edwards only has value because of his youth and potential. No team in their right mind would give up a first rounder for his actual production.

Same thing applies to Rubio as his production isn't even close to being worth a first-round pick. Minnesota would need to hope that a team wants to trade for what Rubio was and not what he's been this season, which is possible, I guess. Teams talk themselves into players all the time.
But the reigning World Cup MVP... Whew. Every team could use one of those. Put the league on notice.

Honestly, we have a roster full of players that either; A would be supporting cast, B overpaid, or C shouldn't the in the league.
Outside of Towns we can't get a 1st for any of them unless we take back someone with a worse contract.

I would agree with most of Lip cases.
I think they still could get an early 2nd late 1st for Rubio. Think they could get a top 5 protected pick for Edwards. In my opinion Lip hit it pretty well. Also think they could get a late 1st early 2nd for Bolmaro.

Trade the farm for Cade Cunningham.
