Iowa Wolves Bubble

Post by Q12543 [enjin:6621299] »

Everyone's 2nd favorite team to follow kicked off their season tonight. It's halftime and so far....Trier has been bad, Cook has been good, and Hagans hasn't played yet; not sure why.

Down 70-59.

Our 2nd favorite team rallied in the 3rd quarter but lost by 3. Trier caught fire in the 2nd half and Tyler Cook was one assist away from a triple double. Jaylen Morris was 5-5 from 3 off the bench and Wigginton had a nice outing too. Hagans didn't play, which seems odd to me. Hurt may be?

ESPN+

Hell of a first half for our second favorite team tonight. Tyler Cook kickin' butt again.

Yep. That probably means someone else from the Iowa team will be signed as a two-way player. Maybe Tyler Cook?

I'm guessing cook, he has been good so far in the bubble and for a B10 basketball guy I like his game.

If it's true he kept breaking protocols perfectly fine with him getting cut

Cook has looked pretty good, but he's an old school PF. He uses strength, athleticism, and toughness to get points and boards. I don't think he shoots anything outside of 10-15 feet, but admittedly I don't know his game that well. I think he'd be an offensive C and defensive PF, similar to Vando. I haven't watched him enough to know if he's any good defensively. His numbers in Iowa have been pretty good so far, although today I think the team was a little gassed. They played last night and then again this afternoon, so only 20 hours between games!

I watched the extended highlights of the last game. I think Cook might be more of a Kenneth Farid type although maybe not that good of a rebounder but I think he is also a little bigger. Cool was simply overwhelming guys from what I saw. He was also doing a nice job of attacking and then making simple passes to open shooters. The issue with Cook is I don't think he is a shot blocker. Of course defense isn't just about shot blocking. If he rebounds and is in the right places like a Larry Nance guy you can be a positive there. I'm sure he isn't going to be averaging 28ppg the rest of the G-league season. He might be a nice compliment to the guys on the wolves roster but as you can probably tell since I haven't posted here I haven't kept up with the team for a while but with the holiday weekend I'll catch a few games.

FWIW Morris has a shot that kinda looks garbage but he has hit 87% of his 3's through 2 games. Lol it might be smooth garbage though. :)

Yes Hagans got cut for that reason and I wouldn't be surprised if he ended up in Iowa anyway. Unless some other team wants to sign him to a 2-way deal or an NBA deal I believe Iowa will have his G-league rights and quite frankly it's a good spot since they don't really have any PGs there.

With an open 2-way spot the Wolves have a number of options and can also look outside the organization also. Cook might force them to make a decision on him if he keeps tearing it up...which who knows. Is there any other guys people would want us to take a look at? Cam mentioned near the beginning of the season that guy that played at Kansas I forget his name.
