New Assistant GM
New Assistant GM
Minnesota is hiring Brooklyn's Gianluca Pascucci has an assistant GM, league sources tell ESPN. Pascucci was the Nets Director of Global Scouting and had previously worked closely with new Timberwolves President Gersson Rosas with Houston.

I hope not. There will be some intriguing prospects available at #43, starting with Tacko.

Supposedly this guy was the one responsible for the Nets Rodions Kurucs 2nd round pick. Regardless we have a fairly high ranking basketball executive that's actually from Europe and did plenty of work there. I'd guess we aren't going to be lacking in that area for once. One thing Jim Peterson mentioned in one of his recent chats was that relationships are a big deal in scouting especially internationally. That's how you find out who to go see. That's how you get intel about guys you are looking at. It may sound warm and fuzzy but Jim is probably onto something.
I'll say this about Layden (Not interested in hyping him much but) I got the sense he was very open to looking overseas at various players whether it was guys from that area or US players that have played there for a couple years or quite a while. We need to be able to capitalize on that market at some point both through the draft and signing guys. I think it might help if the whole organization was able to do more to help players transition. Having some front office folks who have lived in multiple cultures helps and we absolutely should have someone as an assistant coach who has experience doing that for more than a year or 2 playing over seas or something.
Re: New Assistant GM
Whoever we find for assistants they gotta be able to get to Wiggins. Someone has to be able to squeeze that talent/emotion out of him.

Tacko doesn't belong in the league, let alone on this team. If he's here he'd be a sideshow.

Don't be so sure about that. He has size and length to be disruptive in half court situations. Given the track record the Wolves have in the second round, he's got a chance to be our best second round pick ever. Sure he's a project and a roll of the dice, but we've thrown away better picks for cash.
