Nba Draft thread
Re: Nba Draft thread
It will be interesting to see if the Wolves can find a way into this draft even if it's just adding a 2nd rounder.
Re: Nba Draft thread
The draft is next week. Does anyone have a guy or guys you may like that could reasonably go undrafted or maybe could go later in the 2nd round if the Wolves could acquire a pick? Honestly I have no clue. Maybe this is the year SP will sign with an NBA team and prove his talent.

If Isaiah Jackson is available when New York picks does #21 for Okogie work? I dig Okogie's work ethic but this is really a make or break year for him to develop into a competent shooter. Thibs might want Okogie back and Jackson might be solid shot blocker to take a chance on.

There are a few:
Brandon Boston - HORRIBLE statistically at UK. That said, was top 2 recruit for reason. Could bust, but certainly has ton of future potential.
Matthew Hurt - Dude has size and can shoot.
Joe Wieskamp - Showed massive athleticism at combine. Good size for SG, and dude can shoot with range.
All 3 will be drafted, but not projected until mid to late 2nd. I feel there are always 2nd round picks to be had. A couple teams have 3 first round picks, and OKC has 3 1st and 3 2nds. They obviously won't be keeping all these picks. I think there are opportunities to get into both first and second.

I don't see Rosas acquiring any picks this year. Assuming the Wolves sign Bolmaro and Vanderbilt (which is likely), the Wolves will have 14 of the 15 roster slots filled. Last season, the Wolves declined to fill the 15th slot to provide flexibility at the February trade deadline. So there's little room to add bodies via the draft and I would think the 15th slot, if filled at all, will be filled by a vet FA. More importantly, I don't think the Wolves will be in the market for prospects. They're already a really young team and they'll undoubtedly be looking to make the playoffs next season. So I suspect Rosas will focus exclusively on acquiring veterans. The only way I see him acquiring a 2nd-round pick in this year's draft is if it's part of a bigger package that includes an impactful vet.
If Rosas is interested in acquiring a late 2nd round pick or signing an undrafted FA this year, I'd be interested in the following:
Nehemiah Queta
Joe Wieskamp
Jericho Sims
Quentin Grimes
Moses Wright
E J Onu
Scottie Lewis
Almar Syllabus
Ibou Diablo Badji
Luka Garza

You make a good point Lip. It's worth considering that some later 2nd round picks are willing to sign 2-way deals so that would help with the roster crunch. Another option if they could land a 2nd rounder would be taking an international player who isn't planning to come over this season.
A few people have mentioned Luka Garza and I like him too and I believe I have seen him play in person at least once. For people who have seen him more is his shot look at good as it doesn't in highlights and workout videos? It looks really good but his FT% doesn't reflect that. I believe when he played against Nebraska he was doing most of his work destroying them inside. I can see why he isn't considered a better draft pick. He really doesn't have burst but when he gets is moving he is fairly nimble especially as a scorer. I just looked up his measurements. Lip has to be disappointed with this 8'11.5" standing reach. ;) At the end of the 2nd or undrafted yes absolutely I'll take him. I do like him but I won't be disappointed if he is drafted before the Wolves have a shot at him. It feels like he is somewhat similar to Naz Reid only with less athletic gifts but obviously a really accomplished college player.
Lip back to your point about a small trade opening up a roster spot. The draft is a tile where various trades happen so while I'm not hoping for anything and certainly not a blockbuster we might see something minor done. Rosas isn't afraid to make moves and there are some new GMs that might be willing to move some other guys that aren't exactly a part of their core.

They should sign the best rebounder not to get drafted. Hope their hustle translates. Tough not having a pick. It feels very unWolves.

Would the Knicks be willing to take a one-year flier on Culver in exchange for their 2nd-round pick? They have a tone of cap space, which would allow them to sign a big-time free agent and still have more cap space left to absorb Culver's contract. A deal like that would give the Wolves a 2nd-round pick and room under the luxury tax to sign a free agent at around $6M.
