Wolves Trade News
Thought I'd start a thread devoted solely to rumors about possible Wolves trades. I'll lead things off with the latest report from Dana Moore about the Wolves interest in trading for Gallinari. That would be $21M next season and $5 guaranteed the following season. I don't understand that thinking at all.

Re: Wolves Trade News
The ONLY justification to attempt it besides it hopefully not costing much is the idea that they can offer a better expiring to teams in a year while figuring out whether a shooting PF is the best thing next to KAT.
I wouldn't look too much into this. To me this is "hey guys we're out here working" type of news since they legit can't do anything otherwise.

It makes sense depending on what we are giving up. If it's Rubio and an expiring guy (or even just Rubio) sure but I have no idea why Atlanta would do that when Gallo was helping them in the playoffs a few weeks ago. The issue I can see with the 5 million guaranteed for the last year of the contract is you have to make a decision by June 22 whether or not you want to keep him. If I could get Gallo without giving up anything that was a particularly valuable asset sure. I would assume the Hawks would want some sort of decent young player (like maybe Nowell not that I would want to give him up) or some sort of draft pick even if it was a 2nd rounder. It feels like unless Atlanta values Rubio that there isn't a fit between these teams so it might need to be a 3 way deal which becomes more complex and less likely. Pursuing Gallo might also indicate what the market is for other guys or who may now not be available...like John Collins.

Yeah, I agree with Monster. Gallo would be an intriguing pickup, but I'm not sure how a deal would happen. This will be interesting to follow.

One problem with dealing Rubio for Gallo is then the team would need a backup PG and Gallo woukd be likely to miss some games at PF and likely play less than 30mpg. Playing more limited minutes isn't always a bad thing if other guys that get a shot with those minutes do something with them. With this purely theoretical trade they would need to add a vet PG is that guy going to be better than whatever guy they would sign as a FA to play PF for the minutes Gallo would play? Hard to say. Like you in general I like the idea of Gallo if it's basically for acquiring him for expiring players and no real asset. I'm not holding my breath on that deal (or really any deal) to happen.

Have always been a Gallo fan. But it's hard for me to bring on another guy who could miss a lot of time due to injury.
Re: Wolves Trade News
I am not interested in giving up anything of value for an injury plagued 32 year old, not even Rubio who is younger, a great mentor to Ant and I think poised for a nice bounce back year.

That's where I'm at, KG4. This team needs to add defenders, preferably two-way players. Gallo brings nothing to the defensive end. His lack of durability is another layer that makes him a problematic addition. Like you, I wouldn't trade Ricky straight up for him. If we're going to trade Ricky, then we need to package him in a deal that addresses the team's biggest weakness, namely defense.
Re: Wolves Trade News
Trade machine offer with Culver, Juancho, and Layman makes the salary work. Doesn't seem too realistic however
Re: Wolves Trade News
Highly doubt they are going to trade Gallo with the news of Okongwu going to miss 6 months happening today
