Re: Herschel Walker vs Ben Simmons
I don't think there is much comparison between the two. As good as Walker was, he was always a poor fit for the Vikings offense given he was a pure North/South runner who wasn't a threat in the passing game. So it was a bad trade even if the price was cheap.
Simmons is a great fit for the Wolves according to those here on this board and much of what I've read elsewhere. Then there is the fact that one great player can have a huge impact in the NBA where most teams only play 8-9 players in a game versus the NFL with 40 or more players impacting the outcome. Finally, late 1st round picks in the NBA are more akin to a NFL mid-late round pick so again, not an apples to apples comparison.
But then again WTF do I know?

If he wasn't a good fit on a team with championship aspirations and more talent, what makes him such a great fit here?
Let's not assume our first round picks are gonna be in the mid to late twenties just yet. Coming off a 23 win season here.

Walker was a significant factor in the passing game in Dallas. You will likely be shocked when you look up the stats. In his early 30's when he played for the Eagles he had a lot of receptions and yards as well.

Yeah, I am not a fan of trading away McDaniels and/or a lot of draft picks to get Simmons. There is no certainty that a Simmons trade will make the Wolves a contending team. DLO plus young guy like Reid/Bolmaro along with salary filler plus two lightly protected picks is the line I draw. My fear is that Rosas trades away three or more picks/swaps along with McDaniels and that is too high a price to pay.
