Winging it...

Post by AbeVigodaLive »

As the draft neared, we heard a lot about Brandon Clarke and how the one knock on him was his relatively pedestrian 6'8" wingspan. As an interior presence, it's pretty damn small.

What we can learn from one contender in the East... it might be pretty damn small regardless of where he's playing:

Wingspan for the 76ers:

Zhaire Smith: 6-10
Josh Richardson: 6-10
James Ennis: 6-11
Scott: 6-11
Tobias Harris: 6-11
Ben Simmons: 7-0
M. Thybulle: 7-0
Shake: 7-0
Shayok: 7-0
Al Horford: 7-1
M. Bolden: 7-3
KOQ: 7-5
Joel Embiid: 7-5

WHOA.

Arms for days is how you successfully play small ball. Put out a team full of long arms and you can play disruptive defense while not paying a big price on the boards.
