Culver

Anyone worried about him yet?

He has 50/50 chance to make a ft and 50/50 chance to airball a jumper.

I have no idea what his role should be on this team.

It's not a good look, but he should probably be in Iowa right now trying to expand and refine his game with more opportunities against lesser talent. He looks overmatched right now and I think he's pressing.

Let Jaylen Nowell stay up with the Minnesota team and get some burn. Lord knows he's already shown enough in Iowa.

My early season Culver to Iowa was probably the right thing to do. He could have got a lot of minutes in, in a less competitive and stressful environment. Now his confidence has to be trash and he has more problems to overcome. I would send him there just to help him out. He's not improving right now.

While I don't disagree with sending him to Iowa, I do think it takes 3 seasons (pretty much to the age they would be after their rookie season if they played 4 years of college) to determine how good a player will be.

A lot of the best coaches sit there rookies.... It's less of a trend now, but I'm pretty sure it's in the best interest of the league and the players to let them develop a little more slowly.

It hasn't been a banner year for rookies. That being said... Culver has been terrible.

I haven't figured out a single thing the kid does (or can eventually do) at an above average rate. Maybe that's the thing they liked... he's a jack-of-all-trades type of player?

Only he sorta sucks at all of them...

[Note: Ironically, the one guy who's actually shooting relatively well is Matisse Thybulle... the guy who didn't go until 20th because he couldn't shoot.]

Culver is horrible. F- so far. I've laid off criticizing every play because I was so against drafting him, but its almost worse than my expectations. I thought the problem was going to be his speed and movement, that has been great. Its just been everything basketball related that has been bad about him. For them to not have any idea just how bad his shot was is a huge scouting error.

Not sure who I am disappointed more by, Culver or Okogie. I mean, what the hell is the problem with this franchise and their inability to help guys get better!? This could be two more high picks absolutely turning to shit. The inability to identify, develop, and nurture talent on this team is unprecedented in any modern professional franchise. Seriously, look at the history and all the high picks. It's unprecedented I tell you! Or as someone named Vizzini once said, "Inconceivable!"

And it's not just that - we actually take otherwise competent vet players and make them worse over time, Covington being exhiibit A and Teague exhibit B. We just grind them down with a losing culture.

Okogie wasn't really a high pick. I'm not ready to trash Culver yet. He should be sent to Iowa till he develops a jump shot and reasonable FT percentage. Say 65%?

The fact Culver is starting from such a ridiculously low floor in terms of his shooting, I have no hope he'll ever be a credible threat from 3. If he can get to 65% from the line, yay, I guess?

As someone mentioned in some other thread, how the hell does the scouting department not see how irredeemably bad his shot was!? The year he hit 35%+ he must have been practically steering them in.
