Build around Towns or Wiggins?
I think the time has come to make a decision on who we go with. Last year I would have said Towns by far.
While I still feel like Towns is the one you build on I cant help but think of what kind of kings ransom we could get in a deal for him.
I tend to think we overrate Towns. We are a terrible team. These guys can get numbers but neither of them are winners. I dont care to hear how they are still young and learning anymore. Losers lose. Thats all they have done.
When Love left we all thought he was the greatest thing ever. The guy was third fiddle on a championship team.
We need a Ja Morant type or a Luka Doncic. Towns defense is just atrocious. And if he was a real competitor who hated losing he would care about his defense. We need to get competitors, guys who hate to lose. It may be time to blow up everything and start over.
What can we get for Towns? Can we do a deal with GS around Klay Thompson? Maybe deal him to whoever wins lottery for #1 and parts? Maybe deal to Phoenix for Ayton and there 1st so he can be with his buddy Booker.
Where are you guys because I feel like we have been beating our heads into the wall for far too long to have the same results. This is literally the definition of insanity.

I cant see how Towns wants to stay unless he personally endorsed tanking. Start taking those calls.

Build around? Neither. I kept saying that in the KAT defense thread. It doesn't mean you can't keep KAT or Wiggins you simply need a better player or players (we wish right) then both. Both lack motivation on defense and part of the problem is they were given all the accolades for putting up numbers early on. Rookie of the year trophies, etc.
Between the two obviously KAT is the much better player who has superior talent and is an elite shooter. It should be hard not to have a top 5 offense when you have KAT on your team. Creates space or double teams down low leaving things wide open for everyone else.
Wiggins has always lacked motivation. KG said it early on. I think on a contending team he could be more consistent. He played pretty well in the playoffs since the motivation factor was much easier for him.
I like Culver because he is one guy that doesn't like losing. Which is weird how Ryan plays Shabazz over him down the stretch. Shabazz air balls another game tying/winner down the stretch on that wide open 3.

Did the OP just rip Kevin Love for being a third fiddle on a championship team... and then endorse a trade for Klay Thompson who was... a third fiddle on a championship team?

I think it is time to trade both - Towns can get us a serious haul and who knows what we can get with Wiggins. I would move them for younger prospects and 1st rounders 2 years from now.

Problem is you have to take salary back too. So you're limited just from that which teams would even consider it.
Then most teams who may want KAT or Wiggins won't even have top 1st round picks either. Late 1st rounders are nearly worthless. Like 5% even turn into starters.
So you would want to trade with a bad team but also they would have to have players who can match salary. If they are a bad team then why wouldn't they just want to keep their young prospects themselves?
Re: Build around Towns or Wiggins?
Build around as in they're the core, or build around as in compensating for their massive faults?

I agree that they should just blow the whole thing up. Unload Wiggins for whatever they can get and try to get a young-ish perimeter piece with potential, an expiring to make salaries work, and draft pick(s) for KAT. Try to build from the outside in.
But.....they aren't trading KAT. At least not this season or this offseason. KAT may force their hand after next season.
So the REAL question is how do you build around a Big that sucks on defense and can't impose his will on offense because he's not a ball handler? The answer.....it's really, really hard! And you don't help yourself when you dogmatically cling to a system that forces him to play the 5, which anchors the defense.

I wonder who will win a chip first, Wiggins or KAT? KG won when he left, Love won when he left. I think it's only natural that KAT will and the Wolves will be the worst team in the league for another decade.

I think it will be Wiggins. And I think it will be on his next contract, which will pay him more like the 6th man scoring wing he could be. In that capacity, he could be a real weapon for a contending team.
