My masochistic streak has led me to start this thread to track the performances of Wiseman and Wiggins compared to Edwards and DLO. Of course, you can't stop there. Every time you compare them, you need to remind yourself that the Warriors are going to get the Wolves first and second round picks in the next NBA draft. Tonight, DLO and Wiggins gave statistically equivalent performance, except that Wiggins was +19 and DLO was -21. Wiseman far outperformed Edwards tonight.
Here are some key stats for Wiseman's and Wiggins in Golden State's win tonight over Portland:
Wiseman:
12 points on 6-9 shooting, 11 rebounds, 2 blocks and plus/minus of +12
Wiggins:
21 points on 8-16 shooting, 7 rebounds and 2 blocks with a plus/minus of +19
Edwards:
5 points on 2-4 shooting, 4 assists, 1 steal
Russell:
18 points on 7-15 shooting, 7 assists, 4 rebounds, plus/minus -21

I think stuff like this is hard. Is Wiggins +19 because he played well or because Curry went off for 62 pts. Was Wiseman just getting dunks because all of the defense is going to curry because he was on fire tonight.
While Edwards mostly played with Rubio, Layman, Naz and jmac tonight. The situation is so much different there. Dlo had 1 terrible half, 1 max level quarter and a ok 4th quarter. Is Dlo a +19 tonight if Curry is on the court with him.
It's so hard to look at this stuff when Kat is hurt. We didn't bring Dlo in to be the guy he came in to be Robin to Kats batman and according to cleaningtheglass.com so far this season the Wolves are +2.1 pts per 100 possessions better then their opponents when dlo and Kat share the floor together. While when dlo isn't with Kat its a pathetic -40.1 pts per 100 possessions. Now let's look at Wiggins, shockingly warriors are -10.2 pts per 100 possessions when Curry and Wiggins share the floor together. When they don't Wiggins is a -4.6 per 100 possessions. All these stats didn't include tonight's games.
Now you can look at it 2 ways. Wiggins is still bad but is better when he isn't sharing the court with Steph but isn't Wiggins job to mesh with Steph and he currently isn't. While Dlo as the guy this year is pathetic but when he gets to play with KAT they are above average and 2-1 in their career playing together. Small sample size but its important.
These threads are hard to compare because of situations. This is not to make an excuse for Dlo because this doesn't excuse his bad play this year but Warriors are pathetic without Curry we saw it last year with dlo and with Wiggins. They don't win games without their all nba guy just like the Wolves don't win without theirs in KAT

If keeping Wiggins was option #1 and making the trade we made was option #2, I think I might have blindly taken door #3 :)
Re: Warriors Watch
To answer kekgeek's question, Curry does not go off for 61 tonight if D-Lo is on the court with him, because no NBA player can score 61 when their PG is either hogging the ball or turning it over for all but 8 minutes of the game.
I'm actively watching the Russell/Edwards vs Wiggins/Wiseman bit too. It's sad that Russell is getting outplayed by Wig this year, and I'm not just talking about last night. I agree that Wiseman outplayed Edwards last night- I was quite disappointed with Ant's energy and performance last night, other than his 4 assists. There's no excuse for a guy as athletic and strong as Ant getting no rebounds in 23 minutes. But last night was the exception. I've watched a lot of both players this year, and Wiseman just doesn't seem to be nearly the player Ant is.
My conclusion after 6 games: I like the 2020 draft, but the D-Lo trade is looking more and more questionable.

I wouldn't swap Ant for Wiseman either. Ant has every thing you like from a 19 year old. His shooting will hopefully improve as he has time to tweak his mechanics. But he passes well, finishes real well, has quality handles, nice vision. The dude is amazing for his age. I can't believe Rosas made the right choice! Thank god we got lucky.

I'm not convinced yet with Ant. I'm not upset with the guy, but I'm not happy yet either. He absolutely has some big-time gifts, but that tendency to float on offense and defense at times is what could ultimately prevent him from reaching his ceilng. Jury is still out IMO. The good news is that I think he's done enough to maintain his trade value in the event there is an opportunity to go get another star player (Beal continues to be the guy I'd be targeting, as I see Washington needing a re-build).
