A1 From Day 1? - Wolves @ Clippers GDT

Post by 60WinTim »

No KAT. No Okogie. And apparently Layman will not be starting, but expects to play some minutes alongside McLaughlin.

So, putting on a thinking cap, this suggests a Rubio/DLO backcourt starting tonight. I assume Beasley starts at SF, along with Naz at C. Does this mean Edwards gets his first start tonight? The beginning of the Edwards era? Or does Culver get it? Or someone else?

Stay tuned!

I'm betting we see D'Angelo Russell, Malik Beasley, Jarrett Culver, Juan Hernangomez, and Naz Reid. And if Ricky Rubio is in the starting lineup, then Culver will shift down and start at the four, God help him.

Camden, I think Ryan will go with your second projected starting lineup. The Clips aren't absurdly long like the Lakers, so a smaller lineup doesn't concern me too much. I suspect Batum will start at PF, and Culver matches up well with him. I'm not as happy with Russell/Beasley on George/Leonard though. I'd feel better about this game if they rested Kawhi's lacerated face one more game, but it doesn't sound like they will.

Edit: feeling better, Leonard out. Still a tough match up, but a glimmer of hope with both teams missing their best player.

Hmmm... is Ryan starting to get it? While I'd prefer Edwards starting and Beas off the bench, I'm fine with this. Does anyone have a better starting lineup (with KAT and Okogie not available)? Let's go get 'em!

I thought we had a glimmer of hope with Anthony Davis was out! :)

Great opportunity for Culver. But we are not going to win if DLO and Beasley can't hit some shots. Hopefully we have some ball movement to create nice looking shots.

Yeah, I would be starting Rubio, Russell, Culver, Hollis-Jefferson, and Reid right now with Beasley coming off the bench, but alas Minnesota put themselves in the position they're in by waiving Hollis-Jefferson just days before the start of the regular season.

As you can probably tell, I'm still not over that very questionable decision.

I hadn't noticed ;-) .

Yeah, your preferred starters would be mine too, but given the roster available to him, I'm comfortable with the way Ryan is starting the game for the first time this season.

Agreed. This is the best starting lineup available to Ryan Saunders at this very moment. It helps that Kawhi Leonard is sitting tonight.

On a side note, looks like the Iowa Wolves will be participating in the G-League Bubble in Orlando. Guess I won't be traveling to Iowa, but it's great to see the Wolves will be participating.
